I am not a fan of the most recent version of the ITU course but when it came into town it was great. But I think the course would be more enjoyable if the bike went out into the Dales and the lake would get would get clogged with laps. The are a couple of bigger lakes used for OWS in the area though.
Trying to work out from those pictures if it heads to Buttertubs, not sure it does but let’s see if it does get confirmed tomorrow.
Will it move to Sunderland after a couple of years before closing?
Ironman Leeds Limited has been set-up at Companies House, but the purpose of the company implies that it’s a scrap metal business
I think that all new Ironman events are Half and Full on the same weekend, this generates far more revenue than a Full IM only event. Also most new events tend to be as flat as possible, as this makes it more attractive to the majority of people. In terms of swim, I think that lake swims are lower risk and probably favored by the masses. I wouldn’t be too surprised to see an event in Norfolk - using the Holkam course, bike course isn’t too bad, swim is OK, need to find a flatter run though
I assumed the medals were some sort of plastic…
The director of the company has another business called “My Filipino Limited”

somewhere in the distance, a lawyer’s phone is ringing…

I’m just picturing the superhero with a broad Yorkshire accent.
“Aye up. Put wood in t’hole before we even talk about attacking the base.
Which is in the arse end of nowhere, and I’m not paying to get there.”
Lol
obvs. Added entertainment to the thread.
ITU <> World Triathlon
PS. Tricky… should that be on the rant tread.
So funny. Maybe I need a sleep
Slightly more seriously, if this Leeds or wherever I can’t help thinking it will take entries from Bolton and small local events nearby.
Our 70.3 is around then and some people might find the lure of this hard to resist.
Not sure myself.
Not sure if slots would be for the 2025 WC’s or year after? If it is early august I’d guess the same calendar year.
The Sherborne races were late August and gave Kona slots for the same year.
I’m not sure how that would work for the early WC in Nice/wherever?
Probably only get 30-40 slots so not a problem for most people.

Bridgewater
I drove through there on the way to Cannington on Monday. Everyone would be very fresh for the run at least, as the bike would be stopping every 5 mins for roadworks! It’s absolute chaos there!
If you survived that long that is!
