Ideas for the future of Ironman

As in 2019 considerably over distance than this years under?

On the commentarty they mentioned, as in advertising IM, a new improved bike course.

I was thinking about doing it next year, but Im trying to avoid courses that are short or the swim gets cancelled or shortened. It would p1ss me off, I’d feel short changed. If I sign up I want to cover at least the full distance.

Weather was sh1t for the AG yesterday, Pros missed all but the being of it in the last 5km ish.

Yeah that was crazy. One tri-bar dropped. One arm on the base bars for a while. Took 50s to a minute to sort out and rode back up to Kat and Laura.

That is what I was thinking maybe…
The bike advances enable a quicker run (as well as a quicker bike)

Edit: plus we forgot super shoes… that becomes very significant, especially at the paces they are running.

Both, it’s nearly a difference of 9K!

Nothing wrong with short IM marathons…..I’m still having my 3:29 pb from the 24.5 mile IM Wales in 2012!

Some Brazilian bloke ran 2:26 at IM Brazil yesterday and still only came second! Dos Santos?

Edit: slowtwitch reckon is was pretty accurate as well.

Wow that sounds legit or was it Mo Farah.

Apparently he’s a short course and was in the olympics, running sounds up there with Yee but sounds like he isn’t a brilliant swimmer and was probably conservative on the bike. Was still 5 minutes off the win despite taking 10 minutes out of the winner on the run.

2.36 is still rapid!

I thought it had been cut down to half distance

That’s Bolton.

Hyrox is definitely the new Ironman. You will now be able to get all your travel sorted for you

Bandwagon detected. I’m willing to bet the Hyrox star will fade faster.

definitely , “competitive exercising” was a thing years ago, @TTowel was a world champion or something, it never really took off past niche level but was good, then it turned into “CrossFit Games” and now Hyrox and a few other derivatives. Its never going to beat triathlon though as it will never be an Olympic Sport.

never say never. who thought we’d see breakdancing and speedclimbing at the Olys for example??

Yer, and to be fair they said triathlon would never be an Olympic sport in the early 90’s when Les McDonald started trying, and it took a major changes to the sport to get in.

Breakdancing is out again, isn’t it?
