IM Frankfurt 2021

Exactly.

Even if the race goes ahead, the chances of getting there are slim.

I’ll be at the top end of the 45-49 in 2022 :disappointed_relieved:

Wonder if they’ll do the credit option for a longer period, you’d be youngest if 2023?

God, that sounds like a long time!

Yes, but then I’d have to think about the fact that I’ll be 50…

New date of August 15th
16 weeks away

Have booked a hotel room, as we have until 3rd of May to decide.

Other options are defer to 2022 or a voucher valid until the end of 2024

That seems blanket policy for IM worldwide now.
Pretty decent I’d say :+1:t3:

16 weeks is a nice period of training to get behind you.

KQ and costumed GWR still on the cards, too?

Yeah, plus the weather will be nicer to get out for rides / OWS
Will have 4 weeks off work before hand due to school holidays.

I think I’ve gotta go for it really.
Only issue will be travel restrictions.

As for KQ and GWR, one of those is still 90% realistic the other is KQ

It also has the added benefit of potentially being even hotter than early July?

Although tbh, I don’t remember Aug being any hotter than July in Germany. Any time from Jun-Aug has the potential to be a heatfest there.

looks like other european IM moved out aug/sept Austria & Switzerland

which one is next ? :hear_no_evil:

Are all of these races still giving out Kona slots for October (assuming it happens)?

They usually cut off mid August. Bolton might end up with 500 Kona slots :grinning:

Finland is the last KQ race for 2021 on 14 August. At this rate, it may have quite a few spots

This is what I’m hoping
Missus can wait another year for the Birkin :see_no_evil:

Remember the US GOV just added pretty much every country in the world to “do not travel to”, so whilst US domestic travel looks good, it’s going the wrong way for non US travel, I thought relaxations between UK/US was likely for August time, now I’m still thinking October might have quarantine, kona’s going to be US only I reckon.

That’s not stopped Americans calling it a World Champs in other sports.

We can’t go anyway …?!

Posting on the right thread!

So, @funkster - us Bolton lot got an email about changes to race weekend, including this;

“ * The Race Briefings will be held online and be available prior to race week – it is important that you watch these before arriving so that you know any changes. The awards and slot allocation/roll down process may differ to previous years and more information on this will follow.”

Slot allocation/roll-down is usually a theatrical process, where they read down the results list and people have to be in the room to claim their slots, which they pay for there and then (do you still have to pay in cash???).

I guess in a covid world they’ll want to do that on-line somehow.

4th July in the UK and we are living in a post-Covid country.

No masks.
No social distancing.
No washing our hands.
Licking lampposts.
Touching everything in sight.
