IM Frankfurt 2021

Not my No-No Square you’re not.

I’ve been missing my lampposts :joy:

The Ironman return to racing guide says slot allocation “will be modified”. As you say, the few races that did happen last year had it all done remotely just via email from what I recall. People got emailed, and had to respond by a set time otherwise they contacted the next person down.

My return flights from Bilbao got rescheduled last week. The return is now Monday morning rather than Monday evening. The next flight is Thursday (!), so no option but to take it. Not that I’m going to KQ anyway, but I did ask them what they were doing, as the event guide still says a “slot allocation ceremony” on Monday lunchtime. They’ve said they are looking into what is appropriate, and are aware of how other races have done it via email.

They should have done it like a competition on the radio where you give your phone number - you have to answer within 5 rings and say “YEAH BABY, I’M GOING TO KONA!!!” or they phone the next person on the list

Damn shame if this means you don’t get the ‘unexpected qualifier who blubs like a baby’ moment…

Hopefully it might change in time, it will be interesting to see what the organisers do for people from a specific country like this if the race goes ahead.

Also seems like an opportunity for political posturing?

I actually thought that myself, our cases really aren’t that high and I’ll be amazed if the Indian variant isn’t in Germany anyway.

Hopefully we’ll come to some agreement with European countries.

It’s all because of the excessive testing

Especially in surge areas like Bolton, it was always going to identify extra people.

Anyway, this is about IM Frankfurt, hopefully it goes ahead given his training, expecting a podium with all the swimming and Zwifting!

Do they have podiums with 15 platforms on?

12 KQ slots, with a time you’ve done before and should do again

I know those tables all too well.

Now if I don’t shit myself, get a rear wheel puncture at the valve, get a rear wheel puncture after all my spares have fooked off and it’s not 40 degrees…all will be well

2015 was hot.

There’s a pattern there…

Bit conflicted about this at the minute.

10 weeks this Sunday
Europe pretty much closed

Should be putting in the big days, but is it worth the extra toll, given the unlikelihood of being able to go?

At what point do I ease up and go back to ticking over?
