If I’m honest I didn’t know it had changed again
They do like an over-distance course in Germany
Value for money
Just emailed them about options given the travel ban.
I know it’s 7 weeks away, but given the quarantine rules, both here and Germany, the fact that KQ is such a minefield this year, I’m 50:50 on going at the minute anyway
That £500 entry was paid in 2019 and is long gone, so I may well just suck that up and enter for 2022 when the entries go live
Of course, this weekend should have been the race and of course it’s only low to mid 20s instead of the surface of the sun
@funkster - Apparently, there’s an Announcement from Downing Street tomorrow on travel restrictions. ![]()
It’d be all well and good if the USA goes on our green list, but they can still refuse entry to UK citizens ![]()
@funkster as per the other thread IM Holland replied to me earlier today saying I could defer if I sent them some kind of evidence, easier said than done but I’m going to find the link their government has about UK visitors.
Although your entry is 2019, but it was them that cancelled last year.
But as poet says, I’m going to see what Doris says tomorrow first.
Yeah, I already deferred from 2019, then chose the 2021 option instead of the 2022 option.
If they want evidence from me it’s pretty easy
It’s all to do with a) getting there without needing quarantine when you arrive and b) not needing to quarantine when getting back
Even if we were allowed to travel, you’re looking at 3+ weeks there.
Not a chance in hell as a teacher in Oct.
Hence me thinking about knocking it on the head and then just continuing with my 130 training programme for June 2022
3+ days more like ![]()

Fly out Thursday, back Sunday ![]()
No need for accommodation then, as the airport will suffice.
You won’t be sleeping much race night, or have much kit, as it’ll all be in transition ![]()
Sleep on the pier, close to the race start.
That’s a lot stronger than the Dutch one.
It sounds like getting back for me might be less of a problem as I should be fully vaccinated by then. More depends on whether Holland enforces quarantine on arrival.
A lot can change in 6 weeks though but it doesn’t help with planning etc
My name is @Poet, thanks for coming to my TED Talk
The hobo approach to racing Kona
From the BBC
"But the prospect of European holidays could face another hurdle, after German Chancellor Angela Merkel suggested all EU countries should make British travellers quarantine on arrival to slow the spread of the Delta variant.
She told Germany’s parliament: “In our country, if you come from Great Britain, you have to go into quarantine - and that’s not the case in every European country, and that’s what I would like to see.”
I notice on the Frankfurt homepage, they say the average air temperature is 25 degrees. Not in the middle of the afternoon on race day!
That pretty fair from them really.
Probably good with the current travel stress and your mood at the minute!
Yeah, can’t fault them for that.
Time to find some smaller races now
I’ll race ya’!
Tell @adam to bring the rain, too.
Helvellyn again!!!
There must be some sort of update due re Wales in July so would be well up for something if that all goes pear shape
Can’t say I blame you given the travel situation, but at least they carried it over.
Don’t need to worry about getting the long sessions in for now.
Plenty of UK races to have a look at, and you’ve got masses of fitness as it is.
