Injury List- do any parts of you still work?

How are things going @Doka ? Are you home yet? Hope things improving

One day after a successful jog I was in the kitchen, for some reason my left leg collapsed under me a bit, kind of pirouetted and slammed my right big toe into one edge of the end of a kitchen unit slicing a chunk out of it, left leg regained some balance but one the outside edge causing some swelling on my left foot and the inability to put weight on it. Quite frankly I’m beyond fucked off with shit happening, it’s one step forward three limps back

My physio on my left ankle is going ok. After the massage session on Monday it was pretty sore but has settled down. Physio is happy that the swelling is going down and all the muscles down there are loosening up. I’m now getting out of bed and not hobbling and walking is a lot more comfortable, so really pleased with that. Think I’ve got another week or so of stretching and massage before starting some strength exercises.

Just been to see ace sports injury guru Martyn Speight and he reckons knee(s) degenrative meniscus so due 2 dextrose injections during next couple of months. After that, I shall be (hill) running again.

Bring it on!

Let’s hope so.

Did you pay to see him privately?

Yeh Jeff, we do tend to go back a long way, and as a fellow fell runner and cyclist I guess we do have quite a bit in common.

I would say he’s worth every penny - his research is fantastic and I know that he regularly lectures as one of the leading lights in his area. I also know that he sees lots of rugby and football pros, so I have complete faith in him… and he knows that I’d rather die running on a mountain, or cycling/swimming than dribbling in a mature persons’ home at 99, so he does have a penchant for keeping me active!

Not a binary choice, is my hope

I’m really missing my fell running with this stupid injury

I might bear him in mind, if it is Guiseley that’s not too far away for a visit.

Right knee is hurting when walking around.

48 hours post my last run so I don’t think it’s the actual running which has caused it, must have just put my foot down at a funny angle or sommat

Had my shoes on ready to go out the door but had to limp downstairs and thought better of it, did some stretching and foam roller in front of the Olympic climbing instead. Sensible hat on.

Uh oh - physio now :point_right:

I’d been struggling after a hamstring tear and that sounds remarkably similar. Grade 2. Haven’t been the same since. It’s a nuisance.

Although when mine tore - it swelled up pretty quickly. Couldn’t bend down and tie my shoelace for a few days.

Knees really hurting over the past few days, until I chomped on some raw turmeric yesterday, anti-inflammatory! I forgot to have my super smoothies, used to have daily.

Won’t say the pain has completely gone, but deffo gone to hardly noticeable… placebo?

Anyway, bring on next Thursday’s dextrose injections into cartlidge/meniscus (menisci?), see what happens then, yikes.

Lower back, glutes and hamstrings.

I always seem to have issues if I don’t stretch or do yoga twice a day. I seize up so quickly.

Been sorting out the new shed the last few days and my lower back downwards is killing me.

Got the old shed to dismantle Over the weekend and put it along with a load of garden rubbish in a skip.

I’ll be destroyed by Sunday night. Not even contemplating working out until next week.

I suppose this is what happens when you have a desk job for most of your adult life……

Went to the consultant for my trigger finger this morning, surgery booked in for September.

Two weeks of no pressure on the wound, can’t get it wet, up to six weeks recovery time.

Just cut here and file it down, 15 minute job :scream:

I’ve got nodules in every bloody digit, so likely the adjacent fingers will lock up for a few weeks after the operation.

Can only type for 20 minutes per day for two weeks afterwards.

So basically, I can’t work or do any exercise.
Nor can I walk the dog, as he’s a bit ā€œflightyā€ until he’s off the lead when he just wants to be by your heel
DIY would be a no as well, TFFT :see_no_evil::rofl:

Ouchy.

Will it be a general or local anaesthetic? Do the other nodules cause you discomfort or were they just noticed during a scan?

All the best.

Just local - I will be like a little baby :frowning:

No other discomfort, but I was shocked when she said, then showed my the worst ones, which I could then feel.
Basically, each penny I earn typing, or reply I type here, is more likely to cause it another finger - which is a bit of a pisser.
Same with the constant pressure from the grip of cycling, so I’m going to have to learn to loosen my grip -

Cheers
I’m sure it’ll be fine, it’s just a 15 minute in and out procedure…(he says, whilst watching Dr Death :open_mouth: )

Ouch trigger finder, hope it goes well.

You’ve just reminded me that I had trigger finger for about a 6 months starting August 2020, and then didn’t notice that it’s gone, completely. Odd. A betting man would surely have a punt that at somestage, it will return.

Forgot to say, had the dextrose injections in both knees yesterday, Martyn Speight reckons I’ll be running again very soon, jury’s out.

No pain at all, just an odd feeling as ā€˜something’ was being injected into the knees.

Will report back during the next few weeks, second injection’s due in a month.
