So, in summary, it wasn’t your fault.
My fault, my clumsy
My back today giving me loads of grief. Been getting worse over days.
Feel like I need one of those upside down things to stretch it out or perhaps after 20 years need a new mattress
I have a feeling I have a cartilage tear in my right knee. it’s been uncomfy for a couple of weeks now on the medial side of the knee but is getting progressively more uncomfy and this morning is quite painful. compressiing the knee as per a squat is very uncomfy.
going to try an online consultation with my GP tomorrow and see if I can get a referral for a MRI and diagnosis - we have an account with Benenden Health who can step in if the NHS can’t see me within 3 weeks
Eurgh, when I was at university (c. 15 years ago) I had horrific problems for a couple of years with IT Band Syndrome.
Out of the blue, this morning, got a dull pain on the outside of my knee. Ballache.
Think that’s usually a bit higher up, unless unusually well endowed
Usually the TFL or Glutes for me when I get it, TFL mostly though.
Happy to report that my ankle finally seems to be sorting itself out. I’ve been doing a 12g sachet of gelatine every evening, either after a workout, or an hour before a 10min skipping session. Seems to be calming down the Achilles and other tendons/ligaments that have been swollen and/or giving me pain for the past 18 months. Fingers crossed for further improvements.
Woah whats this?? Magic cure!! Tell me more!
Posted previously on another thread. Can’t see any harm in trying it, of course I can’t tell if the gelatine and/or a bit of skipping are helping my rehab, but my ankle is getting better and that’s what I’ve been attempting now for a while.
Dumb question - how are you consuming it? Just mixing it in liquid?
I’ve just been stirring it into my evening decaf coffee. Then I noticed they recommend vitamin C with it, so I’ve eaten a satsuma at the same time!!
My old coach had me doing that back in Oz. I mixed it with porridge
After a bit of time on the bike this week, tested the IT Band with a 5km treadmill run.
Fingers crossed, seem to be pain free.
Great news
Marathon on Sunday, whilst recovering from Matatasalgia. Ran first half in 1:29, but then foot started to get sore around km 25, so backed off to 4:45/km
Monday morning pretty serious DOMs and foot felt sore.
Tuesday morning lingering DOMs, foot feels pretty good. Biggest issue is both ankles are sore: I changed my running technique to minimise stress on Metatasals, however, clearly puts more pressure on outside of ankles. Doesn’t feel like an injury, but need to watch that this doesn’t develop. I also think that unexpected DOMs may be due to change in running technique
I’m my own worst enemy. The good news is that my ankle injury seems to now be completely resolved. The tendon under my ankle bone is now back to a normal size (at least it’s now the same size as my right one) and there’s no pain or tenderness when I run on it at all.
Now the not so good news. My left side has given me problems for a few years now. Generally tight and weak hamstrings. So I’ve been focusing on stretching and strengthening my hamstrings and glutes to improve it. Did a pretty sedate SandC session on Sunday and felt really good afterwards. So I headed out for a run yesterday. Nothing too crazy; 5 miles with a 15 minute tempo effort in the middle. FML. Within 10 minutes of coming back home I could barely walk and today I couldn’t. A bit of goggle practitioning and it looks like my gluteus medius has been asked to do a bit too much. Keeping things in perspective, I felt really good during the run and I’m starting to feel aerobically fitter and hopefully I’ll be able to do some very gentle jogs at the end of the week.
part of Richard Branson doesn’t work too well after a bike crash on the BVI
What the actual Fcuk is that?
At what point should I start worrying about my knees. The ache and feel sore across the top of the knee caps quite regularly, and the click when I get up.
I can still squat, nothing heavy, but they are not restrictive. They just feel and sound odd.
