Injury List- do any parts of you still work?

My ITB has been really tight, could feel it on Sunday. A tortuous massage on Monday and some rolling etc is easing the tightness in the muscles around it that are usually the trigger for me.

I’m still struggling with mine, Jeff. The massage gun really helps, but only short term.

Such a frustration!

Yes, it’s really annoying. I can just about feel mine coming on, it was slightly tight on the run tonight but another rub and rolling before bed will help.

Luckily I can just about head it off these days when I feel it coming on.

off to see the orthopod later today as a follow up to the MRI on my bolloxed right knee 3 weeks ago. Both of us suspect it’s a torn cartilage so the MRI best show one!

If surgery’s needed then it’s a question of timing - before we move or after we move to Wales. Also a question of who and where.

Went to the physio yesterday and was seriously unimpressed. Temped to go back to insurance company and go somewhere else.

Probably best @Jgav, if you don’t click with the therapist, I think progress can be more difficult.

as suspected the MRI scan showed a torn right medial cartilage - not too bad but enough to cause me enough grief. Orthopod asked if I wanted surgery - too bloody right mate! Now just have to wait for an appointment but the problem there is that I may have moved to Wales before I get a date, so I need to decide soon whether to transfer the surgery to a group hospital in Newport (this is all being done through the Benenden Trust not the NHS) or travel back to Benenden for it.

Will call Customer Services to discuss.

Blimey, hope that you’re okay.

Can you still row, and do gentle exercise, or feet up until the operation?

No, I’m fine as it happens. Can get around OK but painful when standing up from sitting but OK when walking the dog, although I can feel it.

Rowing doesn’t bother it or cause pain as the knee is working in a 2D mode with no sideways movement - it’s when I twist the knee or the foot slips on mud that it makes me wince. Did a good rowing session this morning and it’s a good way of getting some aerobic exercise without running or biking.

Bit of a random one for me. Saturday night I had some slight pain in my ribs on the r/h side. I get this sometimes, as a few years ago I broke 5 ribs in one accident and they never really knitted back properly.

Didn’t think much of it and Sunday I was a bit stiff and sore but nothing unusual after a week of running around after LO. I went for an 8km run with friends.

After lunch yesterday and driving home, my rib pain was becoming a real problem and last night it was very hard to sleep. Not much better this morning though may be easing a bit.

I can’t make out where this has come from. I haven’t been lifting anything or doing any awkward DIY. I did fix my neighbour’s fence but that was 10 days ago.

The only thing I can think of was on Thursday morning’s run, I went to step off a high kerb to make room for a lady that was walking towards me and I slipped, fell sideways and really banged my arm into a wooden telegraph pole. I stayed upright and more or less just kept running but it did hurt. However, that was on the left side and this pain is on the right?

It’s painful enough that I can’t take a full breath. Very weird! :man_shrugging:

Nearly 8 weeks later and I’m still getting a burning nerve pain when I point my right foot. Makes swimming really bloody hard because I ban’t kick off the wall or kick without it hurting. Did the whole swim this morning with a PB.

I think it’s just a tendon/nerve damage issue so will heal in time but it’s taking ages!

I had that with swimming once. It only happened with swimming, nothing else. It was a very sharp cramp type pain across the top of my right, just in front of where the foot meets the bottom of the shin.

It went away but took ages. I get it surfing sometimes but nothing like when I was swimming.

Thanks, I’m hoping that it’s something like that that will just heal in time.

Had a nagging right achilles area the last day or so, as expected the soleus was really tight and sore, been working on it myself and massaged last night. Felt alright all day but it’s nagging a bit after training.

I’ll have another go at it soon and probably keep off running for a day or two.

You got a massage gun, Jeff?

I find it loosens my soleus better than anything else.

I haven’t but I keep meaning to get one, might have a look on the thread about them. It’s been ok today until I went swimming and a short Zwift. Going to have another go before my shower.

Thanks

Are these any good on front hip flexors. Mine have always been trouble but last few days they are really tight and i cant get to them with a foam roller and stretching has minimal effect.
