Injury List- do any parts of you still work?

4.5 weeks since soleus tear.

Couple of gentle treadmill plods and tried a 5k outside this morning.

Certainly getting better, but after a mile I could feel the familiar pain.

Stopped after 2.5k, taking a shortcut home.

What a ballache.

Keep going mate. Hardest thing I think is stopping when it hurts rather than wanting to push on out of frustration. You’ll get there.

Thanks @Paul.

I know, in the bigger problems of the world, it’s inconsequential.

Sodding frustrating though!

Not a real injury, but it pains my vain ass self to say it…

…so I hit 40, started to get real dry hands, all of knuckles on just my right hand turned white and flaky. Palm was itchy and loads of patches of white dryness.

Left it about two months, thinking it’d just go.

Obvs didn’t.

Went to pharmacy, she told me I probably have eczema. Never had it before. I need to apply some lotion every 30-60 minutes :money_mouth_face::money_mouth_face::money_mouth_face:

Thats how they getcha! But then see if it gets better and go from there. Great

Now I’m just reminiscing of the good time when I Was A Teenage Hand Model :joy::stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Same here dude. The centraben cream is the best I have found.

Its something you have to keep on top of. As soon as you leave it takes over like a bastard.

Probably sensitised by all that DIY you’ve been doing, or them unhygienic candles :grinning:

Saw Dr Gautier, who apparently is one of Europes top shoulder specialists did Xray and MRI. I have a grade 3 AC ligament rupture in left shoulder, but no muscle damage.

Really interesting he noticed that i also have no AC ligament in my right shoulder from an accident i had 28 years ago.

Dr Gautier is a former German pro triathlete, so knows where i am coming from.

Apparently most specialists would say that i need an operation, this would be at least 12 weeks off training. However, he said that some specialists now think that no intervention has good outcomes. Given that i already had a similar injury in the past and have no adverse effects, i have decided to go down this route.

Amazingly, i am also cleared to race in Roth. Apparently i have no chance swimming crawl for at least 4 weeks. He said if i can swim single arm then go for it. I can take 1 ibubrufen each lap, but no more.

He is going to use my xrays in his next conference to show that someone with an AC ligament rupture is able to race at the highest level, with zero adverse effects (… well maybe this is why i swim slow)

Time to get the bands out! Have you got a sling and does it hurt putting/taking off your shirt?

When I had a grade 5 AC injury, my first event back after 4 weeks, was a parkrun in a sling - so pretty lame in comparison! 2 months later I competed in a sprint triathlon. The pain wasn’t too bad - but it messed up my front crawl as my shoulder would collapse in on itself. Initially I was told to rehab without surgery but after 6 months it wasn’t getting better so I pushed for the surgery. For me it was the right decision.

All the best :muscle:

Thats pretty much what dr said. Surgery later is possible but more complex, however if not recovered in 3 months then it will be required. I have 25% chance of needing surgery. Grade 5 is a lot more serious. I have restricted mobility in just one plane, which is a good sign. I can dress and put on a shirt, a tee shirt is possible but tricky. I have a sling but dont need it as shoulder is pain free if my elbow is below my shoulder

I just checked the time I did for the sprint swim - 2months after my accident and I was only 5 seconds slower per 100m so pretty decent. Maybe I was more streamline

I hope you don’t have a Huub wetsuit or you’ll poke a massive hole through it! :joy:

I would get some trousers or shorts on at least as well!

I get this on calf/shin area, only in winter and only in the last 2-3 years. I have to put E35 on before I go to bed and sometimes in the night as well.
I was convinced it was related to central heating somehow :man_shrugging:

Mind often gets worse in winter. Central heating can reduce the humidity and dry the skin more so there probably us something in that

One day I’ll learn to stay upright on the trails. It still isn’t happy

haha apt thread. That’s a signed poster that my mates arranged when I was recovering from my massive accident. She was in Oz training and a few of them came to my house and presented it to me :+1:

Not sure if you can read it?
