Injury List- do any parts of you still work?

reminds me of one evening when I was running home from work many years ago. as I got to a pinch point gate on the path I slowed down and a “yoof” asked me if I was training for the Olympics (2012 I think). I wasn’t sure if he was genuine or taking the piss as it was such a bizarre comment - a large bloke, in his 50’s, running slowly, training for the Olympics?? I just muttered Yes and carried on.

Went back to the physio this morning for some more pain and treatment, might have made a small bit of progress but as mentioned the symphisis had settled quite a bit anyway.

The hip joint has still been sore and he essentially rotates in the opposite direction to where the tear is, almost like sanding it down! It was quite painful when he was pushing on it but it hasn’t been as sore today as I was expecting.

Going back on Friday for some more torture, I suspect it’s going to be a couple of weeks yet before I’m running but hopefully making a bit of progress. Obviously should have gone a bit earlier but wasn’t sure he’d have been open. Plus I think some of the inflammation will probably only heal at it’s own pace anyway, trick is to probably not keep aggravating it.

One of the best things to come of this lockdown for me was having to cut my own hair, meant I couldn’t get the fancy style which was slightly masking my rapidly thinning hair!

Now have a 2 all over and used to it, fully embraced and happier for it. I’m yet to see most of my mates in person however so we’ll see how chirpy I am about it then :joy:

Another session of pain at the physio this morning, sometimes I think it’s improving and then others not.

He seems to think it is though so that’s a bonus.

Back again on Tuesday.

Good job you’ve not been able to spend your money the last few months. As this physio is rinsing you!

Haha, luckily he’s only £20 a pop and I’ve saved that on the gym being closed :slightly_frowning_face:

cor that’s cheap. mine is double that.

Yes, the osteo was, that’s why I go, the appointments are usually quite short, 15 to 20 minutes depending on treatment but he’s never let me down.

I broke my ankle very badly in a rock climbing accident in 1990. As I lay in hospital my main regret was that I never ran the London marathon.
Was bloody minded enough to work through a lot of pain and start running; first HIM in 1993 and London marathon in 1994. Still surprised looking back that the ankle carried on working so well afterwards, it was only in 2013 that I started to get pain whilst running. Had a bone spur removed in 2014 and since then I’ve had less pain in general but can’t run more than 3-4 miles without a lot of suffering.
I expect I could work through that if I really wanted to but I’m enjoying cycling and I know there’s very little cartilage left in the ankle joint.

Other than that, project patio has progressed to operation new lawn and I have pulled something in my upper back getting the old lawn out. Not serious and I have until March before I can reseed the grass anyway so time to recover.

Guessing it’s my inferior peroneal retinaculum that I’ve damaged somehow from what I can see on images of the structure of the foot, painful to do any weight-bearing. All from crouching to look in the bottom of a cupboard. To say I’m fucking pissed off doesn’t do it justice.

Silly stupid bloomin left shoulder saying hello again.

I blame yesterday’s DIY, but don’t tell the missus it could have been my pressups instead.

Niggly knee all weekend. Not painful, more like swollen on the outside and a bit fiery? Happens every year at this time, no idea why. Last time I googled I think it was housemaids knee🙄

I managed to aggravate my dodgy groin when the alarm went off this morning :rage:

Hopefully settle quickly.

Another visit to the physio this morning, despite knocking one of the injuries yesterday I’m fairly sure it’s slowly getting better. He thought that as well, so a bit more treatment.

On the hip problem there definitely seems to be more range of movement and I did ~110K on the Wattbike last week with one hard effort and no real after effects.

But when he started the rotation on the hip it nearly brought tears to my eyes :grimacing: and was pretty sore straight after but has settled during the day.

Not back until next week and it’s possible that might be the last time, so still no running but less bothered with the ice anyway, last thing I want to do is slip and aggravate it again.

I might even get another 5k this month at some point

Good luck Jeff!

I was tracking a long nicely until a few hours ago. i bent over to unplug something and the back of my right quad went ‘ping’ and is now very tight and mildly painful.

Scheduled for an early doors 18km in the morning but i don’t think that’s happening now :frowning:

Ouch, need to be careful with that, see how it feels in a day or so but I wouldn’t run that far tomorrow. Or at all really.
