Yes, think I will rest it. I have my volume planned until June but hitting the numbers is less important than listening to your body. I don’t always heed that lesson like I should.
I think part of it is my work. It’s pretty full on right now and sometimes I run to ‘escape’ for a bit. Maybe I’ll just watch tv for an hour instead
Same here but I’m resisting the running, the extra stress doesn’t help with recovery so I’ll stick with the turbo and walking for now and hopefully get the green light soon.
Although with the cold I’m not in any rush just yet.
it’s just over 2 weeks since my cardiac ablation and I’m starting to feel pretty good again, so much so that I nearly went on the C2 on Monday for a slow short row but Mrs FB gave me a bollocking and said NO!. she’s probably right - no point starting back too early whilst the heart is still healing itself - so going to leave doing any aerobic work for a couple more weeks. doing plenty of walking with the dog anyway and that’s giving me some exercise - some of which is aeroboc given the hills around us!
unfortunately, after my tachycardia episodes a few days after the ablation, I went back into AF and am still showing signs of it although the trace on my Apple Watch looks a lot smoother now so another reason not to start hammering away too hard.
I’ve also cut right back on alcohol as I don’t think that was helping - never had so many dry days since I was a kid!!
Back struggling with a flare of shin pain after I increased load and was running well through January. Third occasion, seems whenever I get to fairly moderate loads (eg >35km week) if just build up slightly too quick leading to rest and building back up slowly.
Good news this time is think I’ve had the a-ha lightbulb moment to realise why. Always thought I was fairly strong, at least in the sense of being able to run without being huge injury risk (eg 5 rep squat/deadlift at ~1.5x bodyweight), but realising I’m failing at 20x single leg calf raises seems a clear risk factor, found quite a bit of stuff suggesting average runner should be able to do a lot more.
Get one injury under control (hamstring bursitis), only to be plagued with lots of other niggles, tightness and stiffness (all down the same side). I HATE getting old. Will probably scale training right back after this season and no more long distance tris. Body can’t take it
Another trip to the physio this morning, the hip manipulation is getting more painful and I think on Thursday my hip might actually come out of my arse if he presses any harder
It was painful and sore after but settled fairly quickly.
He seems to think both are improving quite well, and as I’ve been going less than 3 weeks I need to be a bit more patient.
Another bout of what I think is extensor tendonitis (soreness top of foot exactly where laces are, test by straining against someone pulling foot down while it’s already down=ouch). I think it’s from too tight shoes.
The only “injury” I’ve had in the last 6 years. But repeatedly. You’d think I’d learn.
Think it was lessened when I’d automatically elasticate the laces on account of races. Last time I had it this bad I was marathon training, so going thru’ shoes very quick and again, not bothering to elasticise them.
Wife thoughtfully sent me a thing on lacing patterns. I think I’ve seen similar before. Will try the fat foot or too tight and see if it works. Annoying, had plans this morning but went for a walk to the loo in night and was limping, so cancelled alarm.
Back to the physio in the morning, leg has settled today so will see what he says, can still feel it in certain positions though, but it’s still only been 4 weeks since I saw him and it’s made progress in that time.
