Injury List- do any parts of you still work?

Good luck with the recovery :+1:

That’s pretty common. I had the when they took my plate out, as the chiselling and holes needed filling.

At least that last thing your heard wasn’t

‘Hello everybody, I’m Dr Nick’

REO Speedwagon would have been better suited.

Good to hear it went well :+1:

I’ve got Piriformis Syndrome in my left Gleut. Have been able to bike and swim and did some running in the pool yesterday. Have been doing Pilates for Sports but still can’t run. Did ten mile Trail run at the beginning of August and looking to do Half Marathon equivalent in Spring prior to next season. Anybody have any tips?

stretches that focus on the piriformis - look on line. they bloody hurt but do the trick

Pigeon pose is good one.

Strength work, I’m not a fan of trying to stretch tight muscles.

First follow-up appointment since surgery today. The doctor seems to be happy with his handy work.

Apparently it was a bit messy in there because of the length of time between the original accident and the surgery, so he had to call another surgeon in to help him out :flushed:. That’s probably the sort of information that you don’t need to know .

The sling has to stay on 24/7 for at least another 4 weeks until the bones knit together properly, so no cycling for a while for me :frowning:

Was halfway through my last 100 in the pool and could feel something odd on my right foot and toes, something was dragging, wondered if there was some pool debris attached, then it dawned on me it was probably my manky toenail.

Confirmed that at the end of the length and pulled it off in the changing room

It got wrecked in a fell or trail race a few months ago and the same nail on my left foot is completely black and heading in the same way.

Not actually sure there’s a nail now, daren’t look too much :grimacing:

Edit: I’ll save you the trotter shot!

I genuinely reckon that’s the mankiest thing I’ve read in a long time.

Is it worse to find out you are the debris or that it came from someting else? Did you take it home with you?

Luckily it was still on when I got out and I disposed of it in the bin.

Could also be for the rant thread but went to pick a glass or something up in the kitchen this morning and felt a twinge in my back :grimacing:

It’s not really bad but I can feel it, it’s hard to reach though so might give swimming a miss tonight.

Usually settles down quickly.

Shoulder has been feeling a bit better last couple of days. Seeing the consultant tomorrow anyway as I think I needs another injection to fully sort it.

Bloody knee hurts now. Not sure if its the quad muscle that is tight or a bit sprained or the tendon.

Im falling apart I tell ya!

Stress fracture in my fibula healing at glacial pace. Getting rather down about it, started running for the train the other day and took about 4 steps and had to stop and accept I’d need to wait for the next one. Not giving me any bother day to day wandering about which I’m trying to take positives from (given I could barely walk down the stairs in August), but 3 months on it still can’t take any direct impact through my right foot without a shooting pain hitting the fracture site which has a big bone callus on it now.

Physio cheered me up by telling me a story about a guy he knew who had a similar issue and was never able to run beyond 13k again without pain. I think it was supposed to be a warning about not taking rehab seriously but now I’m paranoid. With the winter starting to limit my ability to get out the bike I’m worried the next few months are just going to set me back massively.

I have to pay for my physio so wondering if it might be worth trying to get my GP to refer me for a scan or x-ray? Just to see if they can check it is healing or there’s no other issue? Or would that be a waste of time with something like this?

Or I could find a new job with private healthcare instead I suppose

Is the physio work going to speed up the healing process? Is the rehab changing from kne appointment to another?

Well I hope it’s going to speed it up! Or I suppose at least make sure that as it’s healing it’s healing stronger and so less likely to happen again?

I can only afford to go once every 3-4 weeks which is probably not ideal but yeah it’s changing every time I see him based on some tests and poking and prodding. This time it’s largely the same exercises he’s given me but adding in carrying some weight, as doing them just with my bodyweight now isn’t giving me any trouble or discomfort. So trying to build up what it can take without hurting I guess.
