Yeah, had my fair share of those as well. When they go it’s like a sniper got you
All the best.

Thanks gents, glad I’m in good company.
The issue is the immediate pain disappears after a few days, but there’s that unknown period when to start running again.
Ouch, hope it recovers quickly.
Ouchy! Feel your pain mate. Take it easy
For me that period is now (at the age of 58) a minimum three weeks of no running; and that is for what I would describe as a minor tear. Sorry
Sitrep, for anyone who is bored, I’m sure no-one is particularly interested, except me!
Physio thinks the pelvis is looking really good and just about sorted, also things the hip tear feels very smooth and can’t feel it catching. He did some more treatment and it was still pretty sore and painful but is settling quickly afterwards. He says that’s still the inflammation from the injury, as well as his treatment and it will probably be a few more weeks before it totally settles.
Going again on Monday, and then he said he’d probably leave it for a week or two for hopefully a final check
So I might actually get to start running again one day.
Thanks again chaps.
I’m mid 30’s, and generally heal quickly. Today is less painful than yesterday, but still walking with a limp.
Carry on resting, doing loads of non-calf loading S&C, and pray!
You really are better loading it than not. Start with isometric (static) load then slow, gentle eccentric then concentric load. At least that’s how I would go at it, same plan as an Achiles tendinopathy.
ETA: I would let pain dictate the pace but a getting a bit sore through this type of loading isn’t anything to be sacred of.
I am an oaf, it really is official.
5 hour bike (3000ft for first half) Thu, 2.5 hour run yesterday up and down a few hills and today nice slow 3.5 hour ride.
I forgot I am 57 and need at least 2 days recovery after 5 hour type rides.
Mass pain right kneecap. Could be cos I haven’t used the myofascial roller for a week, could be cos I’ve overdone it, possibly as I’m an old fart, more likely all of the above.
Note to self… brain can do anything, body can also do anything but brain needs to engage to prevent body doing everything in a short space of time, oaf, grrrrrrrrrrrr.
age is a bastard eh? wait until you roll through 60 and then it gets really hard. pisses me off not being able to do what just a few years ago was “easy”
You are depressing me. 40 is when I noted a drop in power, had to change the way I raced in bike races to avoid bunch sprints. And it just gets worse in every way! Takes longer to recover and is more painful, and injurys and niggles ffs!
sadly time catches up with us all. but best to keep active as long as possible
Another early morning trip to the physio today. Definitely improving, back-to-back longish rides and then a 2 hour walk\hike yesterday and only a little bit of discomfort.
Seems to think it’s mostly settled and said to leave it for a fortnight (no running but cycling still ok) then go back and hopefully start a bit of easy running
Although my shin is sore from the hilly walk yesterday, long way back before any fell running I think.
Good onya Jeff. I’d like to make up for my lack of running with the turbo but I have no idea if that will make things worse.
It’s been a long few months and I even eased back on the cycling with no hard efforts for about 5 weeks, it was sore after cycling while the problem was still there.
You could try a short session and see how it goes?
Yeah I’ll do an easy spin tomorrow. Not even going to test running this week.
Picked up some weird hamstring twinge yesterday. Don’t recall any issues whilst on my ride, or during my day. But I’ve got a real sore spot quite low down, on the outside of my right hammy. An unusual spot.
It’s tender to touch and stiff/sore when walking and bending and stuff. Pain probs only a 4 or a 5 but I definitely know it’s there. So will give it a few days to recover as I guess it’s just a little grade 1 tear (it can’t be just bruising as I don’t recall any impact yesterday at all).
Fingers crossed it disappears quick, as I’m starting to enjoy myself again. And my lunchtimes are about to become mine again!
Fingers crossed mate. I’m trying to be a patient patient!
Didn’t run all last week so got to Saturday and decided to go a bit further than usual. (I’ve been doing a couple of 5kms in the week and 10/12km on the weekend up until now)
Decided on 16km out & back (8km each way) so that if I wasn’t feeling it I could turn round at any point.
Got to 7.8km and calf started to lock up, had it gone on the way back I’d have only had myself to blame for going further than usual but at that point I was well within my normal distance.
Walked to the turnaround, stretched a bit and tried running again but no joy, felt like it was going to go twang. Walked a bit more then tried again and managed a couple of minutes before having to walk again. 3rd time I tried I could feel it but it wasn’t getting any worse and ran the 7km back.
Bottom of calf toward Achilles was sore later on and haven’t tried running again since but struggling to understand how it can go from unable to run at all to 4/5 miles non-stop in the space of a few minutes.
Frustrating isn’t it. I’m concentrating on rehab stuff and hoping to a 45min easy spin on Zwift tonight.
