Injury List- do any parts of you still work?

bit more pre-work hydrotherapy this morning

can put whole foot flat on the ground now and walk carefully

unexpected bonus, the working day is reduced to 6 hours for the month of Ramadan.

Edit: day 4, so much better again. Went for a short bike ride with Mrs FT last night. Swam this morning and was able to kick and push off from wall using both legs. Walking short distances, flat ground OK, but uneven ground can deliver a sudden 240V “please be patient” message. Feel like I may be able to ride properly in the next day or two, and maybe try some weight bearing stuff in the gym

edit #2, rode 40km this evening with some guys from the compound & my son who is visiting, ankle was fine :+1::+1::+1:

edit #3, day 6, remarkable improvement considering 5 days ago couldn’t bear any weight. Ankle swelling gone and now completey pain free swimming and cycling. Had a fairly long walk yesterday evening too, felt OKish. Planning to try elliptical in gym today. Really want a run, but it’s not ready for that yet. Maybe by the weekend :crossed_fingers:

edit #4, exactly a week since the injury. Elliptical OK. Rower OK. Can stand on one leg (the injured one) and do balance exercises. Jogged 2km with Mrs FT before work, that didn’t feel entirely right, but progress :+1:

I have an ultra on Saturday and the back of my right leg is as tight as a drum.

Back of my leg is still tight. Not 100% sure about tomorrow but there are lots of bail out/shuttle bus options.

Think I did too much on the elliptical on Thursday and set ankle back a little maybe. It’s been 9 days since rolling it & no running other than a 2km test jog with Mrs, which confirmed it’s not ready for that.

bike and pool are fine :+1:

edit: ankle rehab saga day 10: Very much better over the last 24 hours. Leg pressing 70kg no pain and managed 2km steady on the treadmill :crossed_fingers:. might risk an easy 5km after work tomorrow if it stays like this :crossed_fingers:

Obviously not an injury but highly irritating - lost feeling in a couple of fingers, no apparent reason? :man_shrugging:t2:

FS the other hand is at it :face_holding_back_tears: I mean it’s a bit chilly out but not that bad!

Looks like Raynards. Someone in my tri club has it, always wearing gloves and hands go white. Are you cold, or stressed?

A little cold, been for a run followed by a walk around Hampton Court Palace doing a bloody bunny hunt. Not really stressed, I’m pretty laid back most of the time

Will look into Raynards!

Seems about right, not much to be done about it seems

I get it as well, hadn’t considered the stress aspect as it’s usually when it’s cold.

It’s not very pleasant, run them under warm but not hot water or under your armpits!

That’s the one. Mrs has it as well. Her hands look like they’re dead when she gets it

She finds it’s affected by drafts a lot, as well as absolute cold. Can be quite painful, but not much you can do.

Mrs FB suffers with Raynaud’s at times - bugger of a syndrome but not much you can do but beware of what triggers it (cold mostly) and adapt

Nope nothing you can do about it except stand and watch your hands change colour as they defrost after a cold run or ride. This time of year I’ll start running in shorts and vest again but I can’t ditch the gloves until it properly warms up, sometimes I do and regret it as it takes a good half an hour to 45 mins to get my hands working properly again.

Don’t know if I ever rode in the UK without gloves on me.
Even with gloves there’s been many long rides I’ve needed to use palm for my left hand to change gears

Was winding my daughter up and she started play fighting and she said is this what I do if someone tries to kidnap me and I said you want to punch them in the face some more, and she took it literally and just Mike Tysoned me. Im seeing double, will probably have a black eye in the morning.

So any ner-do-wells out there thinking about snatching my kid you dont need to worry about her 6’5" 120kg dad, you’ll already be dead.

Ankle rehab day 13: continued improvement over the last few days. managed a steady 5km run yesterday and it felt 80+% comfortable. Can do about 5 hops. Going to try a slightly quicker one this morning , without being silly. Have really missed the feeling of running.

edit: went a bit harder than planned and now it’s a bit sore again. Numpty, really should have known better :grinning::roll_eyes: Nothing too bad, but probably safest to go back to the gym for a few days I think :man_lifting_weights:

I always have a 10 hops rule, before I allow myself to run again after an injury

How’s the eye today? Have to admit, this did make me laugh. My niece was at one time the British kick-boxing champion in her class. My brother learnt very early on not to take her on

Always good to test yourself @Annas , I remember a physio on the old forum who wouldn’t let his patients run until they’d managed 200 hops on each foot :grimacing: .
