Injury List- do any parts of you still work?

I don’t know what’s going on with my back at the moment. It’s really fucking sore.

Feels like I maybe need a massage and or I could be convinced by some kind of chiropractic attention to the bit of back between my shoulderblades.

It’s not that painful, but it’s just sore. All the bastard time.

I had similar, between the shoulder blades. A right bugger. Personally I found sport massage best.

I did see a chiropractor once about my neck, but I think they are viewed as quacks by the general medical establishment and its not readily available on the NHS

Yeah, I’m looking to find somewhere to get a massage now. I’m sure it’s because my posture is terrible. :man_shrugging:

I’ve had a couple of experiences with chiropractors, one didn’t seem to do anything, another seemed to do something that really helped my back out; it was quite noisy and he didn’t try to do anything sketchy around my neck which is the thing that scares me.

I’m also not sure I want a massage at the moment… I’m a man who perspires readily, so I’m not sure this is the time at which I want someone rubbing me!

A little while since I last looked but I don’t believe that there is proven link between posture and pain. It is one of those things that seems to stick despite the lack of evidence.

“the best posture is your next posture”

Only link between posture and back pain is in staying still without variance

Rolled my ankle just now on uneven paths. It feels similar to when I did it a couple of years ago and had a broken metatarsal just the pain isn’t as bad this time.

Do I bother going to get it xrayed or wrap it up and see how it goes? Any benefit to actually getting it diagnosed?

Presumably an xray is going to require a 4 hour wait in A&E with all the morons with pots stuck on their heads? In which case I wouldn’t bother and see how it is.

Probably, the local hospital has an A&E and a UTC on site and guess the UTC would be a shorter wait but not necessarily.

Probably be healed by the time he gets seen!

I doubt there’s much to lose by giving it 24h and see how you are. Especially if you are able to hobble. Most of what can be done if something is broken is just holding it still for pain relief, unless something really daft like a bimalleolar fracture but I think people tend to know about those and go straight to jail.

That’s the logic I used anyway back in March when I hurt mine

I went to UTC instead of A&E after my bike accident last year.

I think it was probably a shorter wait than A&E would have been and I would have had to travel further to a hospital with full A&E, but I was only seen by a trauma nurse and not a doctor, so when it became clear that I had fractures they had to book me appointments with specialists and the earliest appointments were 2 weeks out. I think if I’d gone to A&E I might have seen a specialist earlier and maybe had surgery sooner.

Went to the UTC last night. No fracture on xray so possibly just bruised or sprained. Painkillers and a few days rest.

Was in an out in 1 hour!

I have found that with urgent care. Get the timing right and you can be in and out. Get it wrong and youll be there for hours.

I can confirm that 2pm on a Wednesday afternoon at Guys wasn’t a quiet time .

As well as people with fresh injuries, there also seemed to be quite a few waiting for dressings and casts on existing injuries to be changed.

There was also one very large bloke who thought he was being made to wait longer than everyone else and was threatening to kick off - “fam, you’d better call the feds now, cos this security dude aint gonna stop me once I get started “ :flushed:

Don’t really know how to describe this and I first noticed it at Classic Qtr. I thought it was an issue with shoe size (which would would be weird as I had the same shoe/sock combo that I’ve used for years).

I’ve been getting pain in my left toes. I thought it was the smallest toe but I think it’s the next one over. I also thought it was a swelling type issue but over that last few weeks it seems to be something else.

I think I might have a fractured toe. I can be walking around absolutely fine but if I put pressure on my foot from a side angle, it really hurts. It’s the kind of position your foot is in a lot when trail running over rocks and big roots. The pain immediately goes away when my foot is flat.

Tried to get a pic of the angle I mean here. Covered my trotters, although I don’t have ugly toe nails, mainly because I have don’t have many at all.

Do you get a sharp pain with that side on pressure?

Yes, pretty sharp.

Could it be a Morton’s neuroma? (LINK)

I have one in my left foot. I can get a sharp pain with sideways pressure. I also get a pain in my foot if I walk too long on a hard surface with thin soled shoes or barefoot that feels like toothache.

I’d have a pinch and squeeze along each toe bone phalange, could be a metatarsal stress fracture.

Wow thanks. That describes it almost exactly :+1:

Can you get it in your hands? Somewhat unrelated but I have a numbness and sharp pain (say if I’m lifting a jug of water) on the outside of the left index finger. It tingles and goes numb.

I notice it more if I’ve ridden the moto lately (it’s the clutch hand) and I’ve always felt like my moto gloves are a little stiff. It’s a somewhat similar feel to what I get in my toe though :man_shrugging:
