I don’t what’s going here. My feet always feel like glass in long races but this is different.
This was this morning and it hurts . Definitely not sunburn .

Did you run through any oil seed rape (or other crops)
We did that once, it had overgrown the path so we just brushed through it, and all came up in hives afterwards.
Antihistamine cream calmed it down.
That’s a good point mate, yes lots of overgrown bits and some crops. Given how allergic I am to our hedge at home, you may be onto something
Weds. 8 weeks off running after both Achilles had flared up from nowhere. Left leg has been prone for years.
10 mins in and the pain ramped up. Hobbled home in despair once again on brink of quitting running.
Thurs. Sub 1km jog/shuffle home to make a meeting on time. No pain in these sh1tty Reebok’s I had to use when knee needed rehabilitation.
Fri. Stubborness kicks in. Out in Reebok’s.
Calf’s tight but nothing in the Achilles. Wtaf.
Normal daily is saucony endorphin speed. Know they have a nylon plate but always found them a great comfy shoe that promoted good form.
So now back in heavy, oversized boat feet. But pain free
I’d get the mechanics of all of that checked out. Don’t want it to be masking something that then just gets even worse. I have to treat my Achilles so cautiously now, it’s really frustrating.
I’ve spent thousands on my Achilles. Every expert contradicting the one before.
Pronation, custom orthotics, strength and mobility, hips.
Just frustrating having spent 2 years overcoming a random knee issue for the Achilles to flare up after a really good session.
On a positive, the Reebok’s are £44
As mentioned in the strength training thread, sore back after getting out of position doing Trap Bar DLs.
So what did I do today? I loaded a 30kg speaker into my car boot at a none ideal angle and further annoyed my lower back. Now it really hurts.
Why the fuck would I do that?
Spent the rest of the day in a bad mood even though there’s nobody to blame but myself.
Physio on Wednesday. #prayers
Oh ffs, 2nd break in 10 weeks. Went arse over tit on a sloped grass verge watching stage 15, 10 minutes before the came through, arm down and snap. Blue is the new break, red is where the previous one was fracture clinic phone appointment today
was 100% sober too
Oh bollocks, was the bone weak from the original accident?
Either way take it easy and recover well
Oh no!!! What a nightmare. Just wanting to be like Cav
At least it’s a funny story.
But that is crap news. Hope it’s not a complicated one.
I think the bone was weaker from original accident and from having a screw in it. Plus a chunk of metal pushing against bone didnt help
Sorry to hear that Sid, best wishes for your healing.
Heal strong
I was enjoying the tour pictures from your Strava. You had healed so quickly from the last one, hope this break heals quickly too.
Will still check to see if number 8 is racing in a couple of weeks .
The Tour was brilliant. If you’ve not been, definitely should.
I wondered what you meant by #8, checked the start list and there I am, number 8. Thats quite cool. Definitely wont be racing though
Managed a staggering 2K run with a couple of walk breaks on the indoor track at the gym tonight, no obvious problems though, not sure a full return is on the cards just yet but might have another go later in the week.
Gutted!!!
Real sorry to hear this. Reckon my wife would leave me if I was in that position on the basis of her predicting what it would do to my mood!
Good luck with the second bout of healing
This is really bad luck SidSnot, hope everything heals ok and avoid walking under any ladders or beaking mirrors in the near future.
When I lived in Karlsruhe, I remember the tour passing by at the end of my road
4 weeks since I felt the hamstring twinge at Elsinore. I went to see a chiro at work on Thursday, the student does the initial assessment then lets the supervisor look at it and check it seems accurate.
Seemed to think again that something in my left pelvis area isn’t quite right or misaligned, that’s about 5 different people now but I still don’t seem to be able to get a long-term solution for it. I seem to be in a cycle every few years where either some ligament\muscle\tendon between my psoas and down to the knee gets injured, also had an SI Joint problem quite a few years ago and the pubic tendon\ligament that joins both sides of the pelvis under the nether regions! This has probably been ongoing for at least 18 years thinking about it.
About 90% of my injuries are either just above the pelvis, stomach, glutes, groin, or down to the knee, and I sometimes wonder if this is linked to my massive L\R power difference when cycling which is usually around 43/57 L/R, when I was doing a research study once he couldn’t believe it and actually checked the bike was right, but I said that was consistent with several PM’s and my wattbike.
Seem to be in a cycle every few years where something degenerates and I get injured and the worst in 2017 stopped me from running for about 5 months, although I had a few other things going on at that time which wouldn’t have helped my recovery.
I then rest, do rehab etc. and get going again with no problems and can build up the running. I wouldn’t even say I do lots of running, it’s usually 30-40K PW and largely an easy pace.
I suspect I’m answering my own question in that as I get older I really need to keep on top of the rehab work in that area, also been told the left glute seems significantly weaker than the right one. Not sure if it could be posture related as well.
Anyway, I’m seeing a local physio that I know\trust on Wednesday for his opinion and then maybe getting some treatment off the chiro. And I’ve been doing a lot of strength work and exercises in the last week or 3.
Hoping I can stop this dragging on for too long. There’s no obvious pain during other exercise and even getting massaged on Friday suggests the actual biceps femoris has generally healed. But when I started trotting at the parkrun yesterday I occasionally got a twinging feeling, walked, trotted again and it was actually fine later on, so partly wondering whether I’m actually just losing the plot this time
So bloody frustrating.
BTW, the other 10% injuries are generally event injuries, e.g. rolling my ankle on the fells.
