I had shin splints, didnt have trouble standing. Weakness does sound like siatica. Ive had that and its horrrible. Pain and numbness. For me it was from the lower back through my arse to knee but the nerve runs the whole length so could be lower down.
If it is on the inside Iām not sure it would be sciatica as that is more likely the saphenous nerve. But obviously it depends where it is hurting. Doesnāt sound like shon splints either, for the same reason.
What nerve is the tumour on?
Not 100% sure, itās in the centre of my calf. Going to request my notes and see what it says.
The tumour itself doesnāt hurt, itās lower down. Could it be a stress fracture?
I had a stress fracture in my foot during a lockdown. It started as a gentle ache that would get worse when I ran and then ache for a few hours. That pattern grew so that there was no way I could run and would ache a fair bit of the time.
Ah annoying, did you go for an x-ray? Were you ok to continue cycling? Hope itās back to normal for you now. Iāve booked a GP appointment.
No x-ray but they often donāt show a stress fracture. It could get a bit sore if doing some prolonged climbing or riding hard so I avoided that. Pain free now.
Ugh bronchitis has been developing the last few days. Why canāt I just get a blocked nose like everybody else. Asthma decided to join the party too and rebel against the inhalers - have to use the nebuliser now. So annoying, I want to go snowshoe mountaineering next weekend. Keeping my fingers crossed I recover in time
Itās Tuesday, raceday is Friday and Iāve woken up with a sore throat Itās not too bad right now but I have that annoying lumpy feeling that you know develops into something worse.
My go to remedy is gargling salt water. Iām all ears for anything else youāve got though.
Decent honey and lemon drinks are always helpful I find.
At least itās here today, youāve got a few days to clear it with ample rest and good diet hopefully.
Probably pre-event stress related??
Iām currently wearing a portable ECG for 7 days as part of my AF investigation with a new cardiologist since moving to Wales. The unit itself isnāt too bad - quite small and discreet and only a single lead - but the 2 pads on my skin are really causing some irritation - must be the glue. It got so bad yesterday (day 4) that I ripped the pads off before bed for some relief but have stuck new ones on again this morning and Iāll only do daytime monitoring now until I take the bloody thing back on Thursday.
Surprised they donāt just give you one of the internal biomonitor things Iāve got.
My sonās allergic to the white surgical tape but fine with normal fabric plasters.
he split his chin open as a child and they couldnāt stitch it so taped him up, he was madly scratching at it and we were shouting at him to leave it alone when we noticed his whole face was turning red from underneath the tape. We peeled it all off and cleaned it as best we could and he was fine after.
Could you maybe stick the pads down with normal sticking plasters?
Interesting. Is this something that you could go for a run with?
Thatās what my money would be on. It has eased a bit but sore throats always seem to in the day, Iāll see if it returns tonight. Meant to be volunteering at athletics but itās getting proper stormy again here.
Iād give that one a swerve if I were you. Time to be a little selfish, just this once. Standing out in the rain and wind isnāt going to do you wonders if you are fighting a cold.
That was my thought as well but we didnāt go last week as LO wasnāt great. Oh well, Iāll make up for it next month.
that wouldnāt work as the glue is on the sensor side so to get a decent pickup it has to be attached with the protective backing off.
Thanks, sorry one more question. What is the make and model?
