Injury List- do any parts of you still work?

My son played his first game of 11 aside football for about 5 years yesterday.
I’m downstairs and he’s just WhatsApp me from his bedroom saying “Go to the gym without me, I don’t think I can move”:rofl::rofl:

Flown from sea level to La Paz. Feels like a lung injury at least!

Just think of the altitude gains! You should enter a race

Thought I was ready for an easy run with mates tonight but a test jog down the road revealed that the jarring is still there

Walking is fine. Less that 11 weeks to SDW100, don’t even know why I’m teasing myself.

That is why Bolivia’s national football team have a decent record at home.

Finally caved in and went to see the lass in the next room to get some amoxicillin for my chest😷

Started them yesterday, the good news is that I think I’m feeling a little better already. From memory, this will be my 3rd course of antibiotics as an adult. Previously had:

tonsillitis in about 1999
infection in foot after treading on a sea urchin in 2004.

The bad news is that it’s race 5 in the Ramadan series tonight, a 2/20/2 duathlon. Know I probably shouldn’t do it, but am going to play it by ear and see how things are feeling later :crossed_fingers:t2:Need to do all 7 races to score.

You survived then?

Looks like there was a sporting headwind on the way out.

Bit of spluttering but the magic pills really helping already. Power & pace were low, but survived & got some points for team Foxtrot Oscar.

Having what could be a migraine aura. Decided to lie down & have a couple of cream eggs to discount a sugar bonk.

Doesn’t normally develop into a headache :crossed_fingers:.

I slept badly on my neck and its given me a tension headache. Feels like a tight band round my head. Trying to massage the muscles into relaxing. Its so painful and Ibuprofen wont touch it.

I’m feeling 95% better from chest infection. 3 weeks it took to clear though.

Got the last race in Ramadan series in about 90 minutes time. A 5km on the same course as the series opener. As an added twist, it’s been announced that anyone running the final race faster than their original race scores double points.

Feels like a stretch, particularly as I could barely crank out 25 minutes in the tri on Friday. But am feeling heaps better today so will give it a shot :crossed_fingers:t2:

Also got to get there by bike- going straight from work - not ridden that way before, that’s going to be a whole nother adventure :astonished: :oncoming_automobile::red_car:

edit… it was close but I think no cigar tonight. only a few seconds slower though, so that’s good. There was a really nice bike path there too, so didn’t need to worry about that

edit #2 … cigar after all. 3m52 per km today vs 3m 53 per km last time

haha Amoxicillin 500mg three times daily for 7 days? Yes probably, although we’ll both end up in @Mungo2 's PED thread if we’re not careful

they enhanced my performance by about 25% btw (compared to having lungs full of frogspawn)

Thanks - and I take it back - looks like it’s actually@buzz’s thread :syringe:, or at least he started it.

I just meant, people are held to a high standard there , and slipping Jeff a few red and yellow pills would raise suspicion😃

Haha, I was always told I was allergic to penicillin but I suspect it was some other reaction or something from being a baby and it stuck :man_shrugging:t2: luckily I don’t get them very often and try to avoid them.

That some sort of PED alibi? It couldn’t have been me officer, I’m allergic :innocent:

Bloody hell, just as my back feels a bit better, I have a new problem.

My left knee has been a bit niggly since Sunday or so. It has a small red mark and I thought I’d been been bitten by a bug or something. It’s got a bit worse and last night was quite painful and the same this morning.
It’s quite red and I think a bit swollen. It feels quite warm to the touch and the skin feels like it has been sunburnt and quite tight. It’s painful walking up the stairs but bearable otherwise.

Pics here but not a great angle. I did put socks on though!

No medical knowledge at all but that does look like a bite of some kind that’s gone bad.
We get a lot of horse flies round by us and they seem to have a real taste for me. If I don’t spot them and get some cream on them they go like that, and very itchy too.
I use this one. (from Sainsbury’s)
