Ouch, hope it improves soon
Thanks Anna, weāre working out with the school this week, making progress.
Geez, it really sounds like youāve been through an ordeal, I hope i settles down and you are in less pain. Give yourself plenty of time before resuming stuff. Things like this can be really draining, physically and emotionally.
Thanks FP, pain is good now and I definitely feel better now that I can eat, albeit soft foods, and drink again. Got a bit dehydrated and low on energy on the 2nd day as I couldnāt drink or eat so much, because of biting on the swab. Bit like doing an ultra really
I remember when my kids were LOās age, they struggled terribly at school with the other girls being mean. Suddenly best friends werenāt friends anymore as they needed to be with the cool girls. I felt like all the girls, due to puberty, became insecure and didnāt feel like themselves anymore, exposing in some the worst parts of their personalities. We had a horrible few years. I hope it all settles soon for your LO. She has such a pure heart and itās horrible she has to go through this
Glad things are getting better. I went to the dentist last Monday - I need two crowns from where I have cracked my teeth - dentist spent two hours sorting (drilling ) out my mouth and I now have two temporary ones whilst the permanent ones are prepared. On a positive I donāt have any decay - but I clench my teeth so hard the impact is causing them to do this. So looks like Iāll have a mouth guard moulded too for night time. Its taken a good few days for my mouth to feel more normal.
That sounds horrible P00key, hope the temporary crowns arenāt too uncomfortable. I grind and clench my teeth too, and have minor cracks in my teeth, but thankfully theyāre still ok. Have a mouth guard for nights as well, itās really helped with my headaches from clenching my teeth, so lets hope you get this positive benefit too.
The dentist recently pointed out about my teeth gritting\clenching, probably overnight rather than grinding. Actually had the same conversation yesterday with a lad at work, he was going to the dentist to see about some kind of guard but I havenāt seen him since to ask how it went as I was considering something myself.
Welcome to the club. Iāve worn a mouth guard for about 20 years now. They are difficult to start with, but you do get used to them and I am seeing how theyāve saved my teeth now. To begin with you do question why itās needed.
Well after finding my āmiracleā stretch for my hip flexor. Iāve gone from struggling to run 2 mins to a 10k (9:1 run walk more or less).
Canāt quite believe the difference.
Checked the logs and thatās my longest run since Aprilā¦2023 (I knew last year was a disaster but shows end of 2023 was bad too). Still remember that run too as did 3*5k in alternating footwear.
What felt like a great and informative session ruined me.
No fancy shoes for the foreseeable. Trusty puma deviant will suffice.
Onwards.
Great news mate
Iām also trying to wean myself of plated shoes, they do my calves & groin no favours.
Itās difficult as Iām already one of the slowest - oldest - in my run group & could do with the gainz.
The pumas do have a plateā¦but I think itās a composite carbon and not sure itās full length either.
They were certainly more a training show than a race shoe.
I canāt cope with clumpy heavy trainersā¦ These have got a low stack too which helps my glass ankles.
The various Nikeās batter my soleus so limit wearing them and know I need to work on the calfās afterwards.
As I build up for London Marathon this year last week towards the end of a longish (15 mile) run my left hamstring felt like it had been pulled or something. Certainly no issues during the preceding 12 or 13 miles so it was odd. Didnāt run at all during the week and did a couple of rides on the turbo.
parkrun yesterday (with a mile warmup/cooldown either side) and Iām still feeling it. Back on the bike again this week I think.
If I can run 15 miles surely another 11.2 wonāt be an issue in 15 weeks timeā¦
Sounds similar to mine which often seems to come from tightness higher up.
But the physio I went to see last year thinks itās a bit like sciatica, and it does sometimes cause problems around the SI joint, he thinks that the nerve is getting pinched or tight higher up and where it connects to the hamstring it kind of pulls and gives false sensation of a hamstring pull. Itās plagued me a lot of years.
And some of the tests for sciatica like sitting with you leg extended and moving your head forward suggest it could be nerve related.
Not an injury as such but bloody hell my right quad was tender when I got a massage tonight, some of you might have heard me crying
Id rather be waterboarded than have my quads massaged again.
Last time I confessed to assassinating JFK.
With your quads, like in Octopussy? Or was that her adductors
You - slow. Thatās like saying a cat is gregarious
