Injury List- do any parts of you still work?

Left wrist, left shoulder, left knee, why not left ankle or hip you clusterfuck of a blessed temple.

Not an injury but I came down with some sort of bug over the weekend. First in 1 year+ . Dunno what it is, but it’s not covid if I’m doing the tests right.

On Monday felt sleepy all day, went back to bed in the afternoon. Got up and tried a little spin on the turbo but sacked off after 10 minutes because I couldn’t produce any power. Sat on the sofa for a couple of hours then went back to bed and slept 12 hours.

Yesterday no exercise. Felt cold all day and definitely on autopilot. Slept 11 hours.

This morning feeling quite a lot better, have 6 hours of zoom education from home to look forward to and then booked in for a swim at 3pm, will probably try a gentle splash.

Hope this is a reasonable attempt at sandbagging ahead of tomorrow’s TriTalk Zwift team time trialšŸ˜€

No excuses, we need you on the front :joy:

Hope you are feeling better soon! I woke up a bit bunged up but I’m going to blame swimming :joy:

Similar, feeling wiped, head of cotton wool & occasionally coughing up fluorescent goo.

OW swim Monday morning & had planned to do a wee turbo at some point during the day & just couldn’t muster the energy.

Didn’t even cycle into work yesterday, certainly didn’t do a session. Had booked & paid for a swim that evening but once again couldn’t find the enthusiasm. Wife forced me to do some yoga.

Unenthusiastically cycled in today, but can’t see myself using my lunch for anything more than transferring valve extenders from old tubes to new ones.

Sorry to hear that. Can tell you that 6 hours of Zoom is not the cure  :sleeping_bed:

I may be the only person on here who has never done any Zoom things, but I can imagine it’s not what the doctor would order.

Add to that left hernia and after using the roller to loosen tight muscles the other day, left elbow. WTF!

Seems I may have been overly pessimistic. Actually managed to RICE it for once and haven’t felt it for two days, short trot this evening was fine. Maybe it’s nothing much. #51Fiver Cotswold Standard next Sunday so fingers crossed.

Aching a fair bit today from all the climbing yesterday, they were quite steep so tough on the lower back having not done any for a long time. Hopefully it will ease during the day, it doesn’t feel like anything other than soreness.

Having seemingly fully recovered from MCL strain last year, 3 weeks ago it flared up during an innocuous turbo session.
Ran on it the following day and all was ok, but was pretty sore the next day, so I reduced the load and took a couple of weeks rest ( swimming and gym was available which helped ).
Just started to build on the turbo sessions and back to doing strength work at the gym. Ramping up to FTP is fine, but still feels like somethings not right…
Planning an easy run tomorrow to asses progress…

After a couple of months of returning to running 4-5 times a week, got a sore left calf (possibly grade 1).

Does anyone know any strengthening exercises for the soleus?

For the soleus I would suggest similar exercise to the video for gastrocnemius except with bent knee moving up and down a step/stair during the whole movement. Try to load with rucksack containing 10% of your body weight - as an old injury prone fart, I am building up to this and am up to 5% at the moment.

Thanks chaps, I’ll check it out.

And then not bother with it and go for a run

I’m old, this list will be quite long.

Tib and fib snapped - skateboarding
Pelvis broken - climbing
Smashed ribcage - climbing
One lung flattened when rib cage smashed
Collar bone broken - judo
Ulna broken - snowboarding
Wrist broken - climbing
Fractured skull - climbing

That’s all I can remember for now.

Bloody hell, didn’t you get sick of going to hospital :joy:

When I broke my leg, I saw one of the nurses looking at me like she thought she knew me from somewhere, maybe she was afraid I was one of her old teachers or something. I put her at ease by explaining that yes, I was in the year before with a broken wrist

I think you might need to pack in climbing…

It was kind of a condition on getting married  either that or lots of life cover.

To be fair, the climbing injuries are all like 30 years ago. I’m also banned from skateboarding and snowboarding generally gets frowned upon. But upper body injuries don’t stop me from working, so it’s not outright banned
