I have been good/lazy and followed @APM ‘s advice, and hardly run for 2 weeks to allow calf to recover.
it feels 95%+ back to normal now so risked a park run this morning & all was good, wasn’t aware of it at all
Hopefully can get back on it now, although will still be careful for the next week or two & will try to keeping doing some of that stretch and strength stuff that you’re not only meant to do when you’re injured, but hey m
I think i’ve got some piriformis syndrome going on
A bit of googling seems to add up, and i’ve had similar before. It started on Sunday and has got progressively worse. Have tried some stretching and it’s definitely tight as hell in there. Internet seems to think that the best thing to do is keep moving - i’ve got to jog over to Exmouth to get the car at lunchtime, so will just take it easy and hope it loosens things up a bit. Sitting at my desk most certainly isn’t helping!
I don’t need this nonsense - I was just getting a nice run of motivation!
Similar here, was enjoying my running until a couple of niggles appeared, I’ve got a few massages booked and the free student ones are just restarting.
Went to the physio tonight about my various ailments!
Thinks my knee pain is basically the patella not tracking properly and getting pulled to the lateral sides by tight lateral muscles and my always tight ITB! probably then overworking the medial quads, adductors and parts of the calf. So got some work done on that, and got some alternatives to working on the lateral muscles.
Thinks the groin injury from the gym last week was probably just a build up of tightness on that side of the leg from being overworked etc. and the weakest link that finally gave way.
So, hopefully with some reduced running, rest, and working on the lateral side things might settle down. I had planned on backing off after Italy but might have to take it easy until then as well!
I dare say being sat on my backside all day is contributing to it as well, don’t seem to be able to get a comfortable chair at work!
My back/hip issue not getting any better. Driving is proving problematic, as is sitting. Which, yeah, isn’t ideal in my line of work!
Grabbed a last minute slot with my friendly osteo mate and looks like it’s an L5 disc issue buggering about with the old sciatic nerve.
Off any sort of proper activity for a week at least now. Playing the long game as I want a good winter. It’s really bloody debilitating at the moment though.
Especially annoying as I had just got my mojo back and was enjoying the gym/running combo. But need to be patient. Especially as this issue is bloody painful and really getting on my nerves… Quite literally!
Did you get any exercises to do? Although my hamstring problem isn’t sciatica it seems to have some similarities and I got told to do the cobra stretch which is either a decent placebo or having some impact.
My groin and knee actually seem a bit better today although I haven’t ran. A bit sore first thing and when I got out of the car but nothing like yesterday, going to keep the rehab going and got some more massages booked in this week which should help. Fingers crossed I won’t lose too much training.
Not today, as it’s too sore and in its acute phase. He did some work around the various muscles and I have some light stretches to do for the next week.
Then he’ll go a bit deeper on the muscles and then give me some more serious exercises and stretches etc to do as a longer term fix.
It’s so frustrating cos it’s mostly fine now I’ve been out in the kitchen, pottering about on my feet. But I know as soon as I sit down the pain is coming back!
Bit late to this but yes, a little! I broke 6 in one go and not the cracked variety. Along with a collar bone broken into 3 pieces, a punctured lung and busted hip. It was all on the same side as well, the r/h side.
I was in hospital for quite some time and in a hospital bed at home for months.
I’d be amazed if you do anything a day or two after with a properly busted rib, but maybe a cracked one. Either, I would be taking things easy.
I DO NOT recommend sneezing!
Very kind, thank fp. It’s nothing like your back issues, it’s just pis*ing me off. It was a tiny bit better yesterday, so fingers crossed it’s a tint bit better today!
