IRON JANUARY

Not touched alcohol since NYE but that’s just because I rarely drink during the week, outside of Christmas or being off work.

Back to normal eating/ Although I had to work last night, not too late. Went for a walk and then had cheese and crackers, fancy. We hve a lot of wine and chocolate in the house that I need to get through.

Walnuts?

opened yesterday , closed again today. the kids had 2 weeks with limited swimming due to XMAS/NY, then nothing this week so far, and this weekend is the last county QF meet. There’s going to be a few kids missing out now.

just this second got an email saying its reopened. Get your butt down there

HA ha, fat chance! I’m thinking of risking the trains tomorrow for the aquatic centre.

1h30 trainer + 10min treadmill = 5/5

Is there a prize for lantern rouge in this thread?

So far:

  1. Drunk beer every evening. Brewdog too- when the cats away etc.

  2. Not even looked at my bike.

  3. Only been immersed in a body of water for the purpose of getting clean.

  4. Been for one run, and that was because my friend bullied me.

Chapeau to those who are managing it👍

As an aside am quite tempted to read AA Gill’s biography because it is called “Pour Me”.

Surprised there hasn’t been a French wine called ‘Lanterne Rouge’

The very last grapes of the season or something- I don’t know :man_shrugging:

I fucked up dry Jan. Just felt like a drink this weekend. Regret it a bit now as I dont feel too good today.

Maybe I will do dry Jan 9th to Feb 9th

I think one slip makes it moist January, two makes it damp. After a certain point it just becomes “January”

It becomes “fun January”

I’ve been dry since Wed 21st December when I came down with two vicious ear infections and a nasty cold (after a gently boozy week in Fuerteventura). I’m going to see if I can carry on through until end-Jan. I’ve also gone low carb for the month to add to the misery (the remaining Christmas cake being the one allowable exception). I could have murdered a Rioja last night. I’m going to stock the wine cellar with 24 bottles of sale wines from Laithwaites catalog in prep for Feb. Feb will kick off with an epic cheese fondue and a bottle of red.

Me too. Don’t worry. I’ve reset and started today. So I’ll aim to go ‘til end of first week of February. Not going to beat myself up - It’s so grim, wet and cold up here.
