Hadn’t even occurred to me it might be non-wetsuit.
If they cancel the swim two years in a row not only with I throw the kitchen sink out of my pram with my toys, but I don’t think they’ll ever be able to run it again as no one will sign up.
This is my reasoning, which is why I thought they would be working proactively to avoid the same thing happening again this year; so it wasn’t much of a risk. That said, historically we know Ironman is often happy to walk away from venues after 3 years…

Its been much cooler in Europe this year and consequently lakes are cooler, for instance at my local tri, which takes place this weekend, last year it was a non wetsuit swim, this year the water is 18 degrees, short of a massive heatwave hitting Europe, I think that we should be safe from Algae and probably will need wetsuits (but unlike most on IMJ, that doesn’t bother me either way)
It’s been cold in the lake district but there’s still been algae in Derwent from last year I think, there was a chance the Lakesman swim was going to be cancelled but the last I heard it was on.

TT is more like a bunch of old sweats chatting down the local pub, in their usual corner. Yeah, it’s maybe a bit more of a clique (only because it’s less obvious these days), but you know you won’t get people talking in hashtag slogans.
