Ironman Nutrition Plan

Nowt. I’m joking.

I put mine back from 10TT mode into 100 mile training mode last night and shed a little tear

All that aero crap, then we just load them up.

I stick my litter under my shorts, on the thigh, then just drop it at an aid station.

Ive stopped doing the weekly TT cause I couldnt cope with the faff of taking it all off then back on.
Yes - the speedfil particularly isnt aero, sticks out on the drive side too much. But it makes me drink and doesnt slosh all over the cockpit.

My massive quads will probably stop me doing that  Prob take the bag then I can keep an electrolyte tab or 2 in there just incase.

Yeah, I don’t plan doing it for a while.
Hopefully (I think ZTRL has finished now?) the chaingang will start back up next week, so can just rinse that on the roadie with the Zipps on
Absolutely love the 50km at 40kmh :face_vomiting::heart_eyes:
Then a beer afterwards :beers:
That’s real IM nutrition

On the latest Inside Tri Show podcast Helen interviews Helle Frederick’s about race nutrition, most of which we - as a group - may know, but with some interesting insights.

8:30 in the morning so I’m not going to cook but need to take in the fuel for the final 10km run

Raced there before?

Some people say it’s boring, but I like it.

I think George Samuel won the last one, but this next one is a qualifier so you never know who turns up?

The final run is 2 laps?

That’s 8.6 kms unless they have changed the format.

The first 10 k is four smaller loops up that horrible hill.
Again unless they have changed it

Hope it goes well

@mw22 I’m assuming you’ve not looked at the aero data for the Speedfil?

Jaysus!!!
That’s horrific.

Better off with a seat tube and down tube bottle.
By nearly an actual mile :scream::scream::scream:

Go on, give me numbers??

Thing is, I’ve got 2.5 hours of beta fuel in there. I’ve had issues on my other races fuelling and this is working.
I don’t really want owt between the bars… And if it doesn’t have a straw in my face, I won’t drink (and fuel) enough.

So it’s got alot of positives. I’ve got enough drag not being able to hold aero and a crap position anyway :grimacing:

Interesting that a standard bottle mounted to both seat and down tubes has significantly less drag than a standard bottle to just the seat tube.

Huge bottle on the seat tube and speedfill must be off the charts!

Alright alright

Whats this translate to in minutes (or hours)?? I only ever run both for LD… and previously didnt start with the 750 bottle (but planning to this year - or a 500 - just for another packet of Beta on board).

Fills up that space effectively though.

I think the @mw22 set up is possibly genius.

(I am the least aero person here to comment though)

Here, have a laugh at mine ready for a jaunt this weekend

I would say losing 2 min 37 secs (or whatever it is) on an IM course is going to be a hell of a lot less than completely bonking on the run due to lack of fuel and walking in a 6 hour marathon!!!

I guess it’s about using the best solution for you.

If you’ve got to carry that amount of fluid, it’s got to go somewhere right?!

I’m sure even the straw although probably horrific for aero is a good reminder to get nutrition down you.

I’ve gone with a bottle cage zip tied between the bars.

Will post a pic once I’ve sorted how to mount my bolt

I’ve REALLY struggled this year on TT being comfortable. Even a bottle between the bars I’d delay taking it out till I felt in a good place (road surface, traffic, elevation)… but the straw where it is negates all that and I’ll drink as much as I can whenever I want without the stress.
So yeah -its very much about - F£$k CDA and the weight - do what works.

For 10s I dont drink… if I ever get around to a 25 or something, then I may need plan B

Yeah, fair.

I’d say you only need a bottle for 50 mile TT plus. Never needed a drink for a 10/25 I’m probably a bit weird though

Great point! Especially when GB puts it like he did, too!

I don’t drink in a 25, it’s bloody DRY!!!
