Ironman UK 2021

Loads of time then!

For me right now I can’t see it’s worth entering.

I’ll just wait and see what happens, can see the merit of swapping for all you guys with euro races though

I’m hoping they might be a bit more flexible this time around, if another race isn’t sold out.

I’m holding off transfer to Bolton, Looking at the news, I think there is a good chance that July is still too early and shutdown may still be ongoing

I will keep my Lanza entry, if it is postponed or cancelled will do it next year

Yup.

Following Trump’s comments; I’d expect US races to be cancelled until July/August then the UK would probably follow suit, as part of the race series.

I can’t see any smaller UK races happening until at least May

Well listening to radio4 this morning it seems there is no exit strategy to current social distancing measures. Possibly only vaccine which is obviously a long way off

Vaccine is pretty close, a few months away, but could be sooner than many expect

That’s interesting, didn’t hear that this morning

Depends on whether they ‘waive’ huge chunks of the trials/approvals period I guess (or whatever the Pharma industry calls it).

They already are. FDA approved start of production and clinical trials in less than 24 hours, normally takes 6 months

Went up to do two loops…

…in shorts and a light LS jersey due to the forecast being nice.

It drizzled and was 22mph winds.

Bailed after one loop :cold_face::cold_face::cold_face:

I don’t think you are right sadly. That’s very different from what the Imperial College report says, which quotes 12-18 months. All the reports I read of the human trials on volunteers they started in the US yesterday are that they’re at a very early stage, and still expect a vaccine suitable for the mass population to take over a year.

“Despite the rapid progress, even if the vaccine is proved safe and effective against the virus, it will not be available for at least a year.”

As it stands, I can’t see anything happening in 2020. I’ll be lucky to do Boston next April.

All the events rescheduled for October are doomed if they commit to the suppression strategy. The only way to get through this fast, meaning 3-4 months according to the science, is if you accept a high number of deaths that come with the mitigation strategy (250k in the UK and 1+ million in the US)

its March ! what did u expect !

12 degrees, 14mph breeze and sunshine was the forecast!!!

I wouldn,t go round west pennines in shorts or s/s till at least july   :biking_man:

I bloody drove to Lostock Junction station (free parking, bottom of Regent Road, on the course) with three 750ml bottles, a sandwich and recovery shake :face_with_symbols_over_mouth::triumph:

I could’ve got away with 3/4 tights, an LS base layer and gilet.

Alas, it wasn’t to be.

Also, 30 cassette was EPIC! Felt like less effort for the same speed today, barring the super annoying wind.
Good to see the roads again and see where you can carry speed through…

I’m starting to think I won’t even make it this year TBH.

I’m also doubtful that Bolton will go ahead, sorry folks.

There will be other days, or should that be other years !!
The 30 makes a difference, did you have compact on ?!

I have thirty odd days leave to take and I’m on a two day week…,!?
But it’s hard to pull your tripe out when we might not be pinning a number on this year.

Just been talking to the organiser of Oulton park, he’s received an email… not happy … I think it’s telling him to cancel …!

Life’s shit at the min, hope grobbo and his family are ok…!?
