Yep. Fair enough. It’s just the comments these posts draw

One lady did the 2019 loop 21? Times.

She got cut on the bike by7? Mins.

Heartbreaking

This was my argument that the course was too hard, this is one of the several reasons why they changed it.

Can still see a few on the wrong side of 10 hours total from the swim, if it rains / v hot windy that number could grow.

Yup!!!
The power of the crowd will not make you quicker. Nor will tailwind.
It will detract from the misery on the third loop, so you push through to the effort you did on the second loop.
But you shouldn’t rely on that.

I recall Outlaw one year, another Adam from TT caught me at 5 hours on the bike, I was feeling proper low.
He gave me a stern talking to and I managed to “push through” and get back to T2.

I left T2 ahead of him and he passed me about 32km into the jog. Beat me by a few minutes.
Had some good races against him (same age, did the local races I did)
Beat him the following year, like.

I think there are points in all races where we all need a good talking to.

Either to yourself or others!

Good man :facepunch:t2:

Ironman bike starting between 65-70miles is always tough. thinks start to ache, the mind starts to wander and speed can drop. Its a horrible hour, but you get through it.

Dave Allen said the Ironman doesn’t start until mile 80 on the bike.

I obviously missed the crowds on the bike the twice I did it…

There were some people at the bottom of Sheephouse and some on Hunters, but that was it

Hunters was packed 2018.

Short year.

Tour de France style by the White House at the top,

Will Clarke jumped off his bike and ran on the really steep bit, which I thought was a bit weird.

Froome parody? Know Wiggins has done it since for TV.

It was surreal.
He dismounted on purpose ran ( sprinted)
30? Ms

He certainly speeded up and then a perfect mount and pulled away … your actually still going uphill at that point.

If most of us tried to do that … well you can imagine.

Put it on IMJ as a technique the pros do to keep their legs ready for the run.

Oh Lordy …!

That wouldn’t end well.

I was stood by a scouse roadie club they all had discs and integrated bars then, they looked at each other to say “ WTAF”

If they park the vaccine bus on the IM course that would guarantee a crowd in at least one place

Nah.
Bolton’s too far for them.

Alderley Edge / Macclesfield for IMUK :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Swim in Errwood Reservoir

Up the Goyt, through the Peaks, pop out on the A6 at Bakewell, blast down to Cromford, up the Via Gellia, A515 back to Buxton, Long Hill and descent, A6 to Hazel Grove, A523 to Macclesfield, A537 to the old AZ site…then up and down the bypass 4 times.

Boom. Done.
