Ironman UK 2021

I’ve got one aero downtube bottle and one BTA bottle.
Not a fan of behind the saddle stuff, just an extra 1.2kg to carry up the hills.
I also hate rattles :see_no_evil:

The aid stations seems well spaced out, actually.
Every 7.5 - 12.5 miles.

And yes, I ticked the box.

And that concludes the case for the prosecution, Your Honour

There’s no chance I’m qualifying outright (4 slots in my age group) or will even get a roll down.

People now get 48 hours to accept the slot, else it gets automatically declined and the email goes to the next person.

That’s well enough time to do the research and tally up the costs

Good luck it has been a long wait. However selfishly…will they release any race places once they know who is turning up?
Not interested in Bolton but Tenby yes please

Thats a far better system. One benefit of covid to stay!

Hmm…I’m unsure - gives people time to scrounge around and check behind the sofa etc.:see_no_evil:

They do this at Kona; but in this case I guess it’s ‘Covid safe’.

Yes. They are, stick your details here (for Wales)

That’s about it I do one sachet at a time shake it until it dissolves and repeat. Just make sure the gunk is cleared from the valve of the bottle or it can be a PITA to squeeze out.

Cheers.
I’ll give that a go on Friday, if it ain’t thunder-rain :face_with_symbols_over_mouth::cloud_with_lightning_and_rain::sob:

I used to just put H5 Isogels in an aero bottle; topped-up with a tiny bit of water.

And just get water at the aid stations? At least you know what you are getting and how much carbs.

Yeah, that was my plan…but the BTA Elite Buta bottle I have leaks water from the bottom and I cannot take enough liquid from it - the valve is too stingy.

Basically, I’m a whale.
I can easily take 250ml in one “sip”.
I’ll drink half a pint of cordial as my first glug, same with pop.
Half of it is gone immediately.

I took the valve off and it leaked sticky fluid all over the c0ckpit on Saturday.

I appreciate it may not be the most elegant solution but might some PTFE tape seal that leaking bottle? Obviously it shouldn’t be needed.

Nice thought!!!
I’ve got loads of that for valve extenders :+1:t3:

Any thoughts on how to get more fluid from a bite valve?

Suck harder !

That’s what I said to her
Oi oi!!!

But seriously, it feels like weird in my mouth,
Like all my mouth is sucked together, then the gag reflex comes…and out it all comes.

You can buy replacement bite valves, just a case of getting one that fits.
