Did you really think that was not the case?!? I’ve had to change an overnight puncture before on race day morning (which is why I always try and get there as soon as they open, just in case)

Bike bags was a surprise.
1.5k people in a tent in Covid times?
Seems odd.

I’d expect bike access, as it’s outdoors.

But it’s not a tent? I’ve never done IMUK, but I’ve never been at a race where the bags have been indoors before, except the split transition at Copenhagen where T2 was in an underground car park.

The race guide says it’s outside:

Just watched Skippers video on IMUK prep, 50m TT PB followed by a 10k brick run - 37mins.

Solid numbers there

I’m sure at Wales there was no access to bike or run bags on the morning of the race?

@Mungo2

Oh mate, so sorry. Honestly, you turn away from TT for 2 days and all hell breaks loose.

You have literally nothing to prove to anyone.

That also means you’re afforded the luxury of doing whatever the fuck you feel like.

You can go and doggy paddle a 2:20, bike for as long as you feel like and then grab a choice spot and shout at others, make the bike cut off and walk it in (always my preferred option ) or just chill at home with Doris.

All the pressure has gone. All that remains in your head is the buzz about “the choice.” Come to terms with that and make a decision and you’ll be fine. And everyone on here will support you anyways.

But DO make a decision, otherwise the annoying buzz will keep you awake and make the decision for you…

Yet they showed blue bags in a tent on the race briefing video :man_shrugging:t4:

Where they also said the bike was a clockwise loop…and in the same printed athlete guide, they tell you to do this :joy_cat:

Goggles and wetsuit on the bike.
But where have my bike shoes gone?
Where do I leave my goggles and wetsuit?

I’ve also never done IMUK.
But EVERY other long distance race I’ve done has been bags in a tent.

That decision was made today at 3 o’clock ish…

I went back to the gym, messing about breast stroking 2,4,8 lengths, even working on some sort of pacing.

Then walking as fast as I could for 100 ms ( no pain )
Timed etc.

Just looking into wetsuit choice and seeing if I could get to the delph to swim a few 100 ms breast stroke to see how it feels when the doctor phoned.

I had an X-ray last Friday for a cough that just wouldn’t shift.

I have two shadows on my lungs, CT scan within 5 days, I guess this just isn’t my year.

Could be nowt, could be bad but you all know that already, strangely triathlon is the last thing on my mind right now.

I’ll be supporting by the black dog pub with hundreds more hopefully.

I thought long and hard before posting this, and some will feel this is too personal for an open forum, but I class some of you as friends I’m yet to meet.

Jeez, hope it’s all ok. You’re amazing in here, but health comes first. Go support, go get your scans. Ironman isn’t life, despite what they tell you.

Crossing everything I can…good luck.

Shit, your health is the priority, stuff the race.

Really hope it’s just old scarring or something innocuous.

Hard to read but understandable. If it gives you hope, this is me at my 4th spine op. 3wks in hospital and a 13hr operation to install some new fangled made in USA fancy hardware. It’s fucking scary being injured but never stop thinking positively mate. On the day I could go home they brought a wheelchair but I walked out of that bloody place.

You’ll get there buddy :+1:

You know I’m 80-82kg, right?

There’ll be no “flying” up there

Can’t wait to hear the shouts :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Really sorry to read that. Rest up and get this sorted and you will be back even stronger next year.

I would defo get I touch with IMUK and see about deferral. Just tell them what’s happened and see what they do. Castle Series helped me out when all I had was an infected face on the Thursday before the race.
