IronMan UK Bolton 2022 - July 3rd

Ha ha ha - I’ve got some thin under armour exercise briefs :+1:t3:
They have been totally fine so far doubling up.
I was going to take apart a pair of jammers and stitch that in, but there’s no seams on the Anemoi.

OOH!!!
Actually…

…do you have a NoPinz or homemade number belt like one?

I stitched two squares of Velcro (the hook side, so it doesn’t rub the front on the run :+1:t3:) onto the ass panel, put the softer Velcro onto your number, then it just fastens down with no flapping. And an ass crack cover.

Very good, I did did just think if I wore my number low enough it would cover the worst of it.

I’ll have a play, I’ve got a few belts knocking around that I don’t mind chopping up to experiment with. Thought I might go with the minimal elastic shoe lace though this year.

Yes @jeffb i’ll take that weather all day long!!

@Adam - You Oop North, yet? Traffic was HORRIFIC last night on the M6/A50 :sob: my normal 84 minute journey took 120 minutes :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Best get that rain cape / thermal jersey packed if you’ve not yet left :sob::sob::sob:

Pretty good race temperatures there👍

This has snuck up fast. Who’s in apart from @Adam ?

Ha, yeah my father in law drove up to the lakes last night and was moaning about the traffic around your old manor.

I’m heading up at an unsociable time tonight/tomorrow morning - get all the registration faff out of the way before the crowds like.

BBC mobile app saying cloudy but 20% chance of rain pretty much all morning. Had promised myself I wouldn’t look until tomorrow.

Perfetto is the first piece of kit packed in the bag  might pack some mitts and arm warmers too

Yeah, that’s what I wore when I chucked it down last year.
Was absolutely fine temperature wise, I’m guessing it was similar to what is being forecast.
As they’re quite tight, they appear to be quite aero, too.

Last night we came Stoke/M6 way as loads of roadworks/closures on my normal scenic route; just horrendous on a Thursday. Fridays used to be better.
Hopefully you’ll be reet :+1:t3:

Can’t wait to track you !!!
You’re gonna beast that bike.

What’s your longest run in this build @adam? Not sure if I’ve missed it, but don’t recall seeing any real long ones.

Is that your usual approach, cos you’ve got the engine to get through, have I just missed them, or have you been protecting?

Can’t believe how fast this has popped round!

25km is the longest - so Poets post in the sub 10 really struck a cord. I’ve found doing 30km+ runs have really wiped me out in the past so I’ve experimented here and not gone so long.

We’ll wait and see if it pays off but I’ll (hopefully) on that start line feeling fresh and uninjured.

I’ve been super consistent since mid April but I haven’t done anything crazy long. I’m pleased where I’m at to where I was back then but I suspect I’ll be in better shape for Wales not this one. I’ve had that in that back of my head all along really - still I’ll give it everything on Sunday!

Well, 67-72% :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
Can’t be giving it full FTP :joy::see_no_evil:

Also, please don’t beast the bike so I can see how that 25km jog theory holds up!
I’ve not tested it myself yet :grimacing:

Phil Skiba says this in his book. He reckons for most AGers anything longer means you compromise the following days too much. (Obviously that is ‘in general’)

Outlaw 2019 was the last time i had two or three 30km+ runs - absolutely killed me for days after - for me, I can see sense in it

Saying that though I did an 80km training ride with two other guys a few weeks ago which took we a good three days to get over so it’s all a bit of a balancing act.

Re the ride, I’m definitely going to push up the three main hills each lap but do absolutely nothing on the descents. I think some power is required for some of the rollers too as you can really keep your momentum going - so nice to have recced the course in that regard

Ha ha ha - that wasn’t a training ride.
That was an utter beasting :grimacing:

That wind direction looks brilliant for the “push” back into town. So that part should be rapid :+1:t3:
That bit is superb on the bars with closed roads.
It’s so so quick!
I was a bit scared when I saw my speed in the wet down there, with Queens Park right turn fast approaching.

Yeah. I thought the same, that whole section coming back into town after the grim out and back is going to be absolutely rapido!

Even on my Allez I was doing well over 45kph on Chorley New Road
