I’ve never understood what the spring is supposed to do anyway 
I’ve got horizontal dropouts on the Cervelo P2 (2007)… taking the skewer out is the way.
Same on the P5 but make sure you don’t disturb the bolts that level it or you could get brake rub.

They’re only there to centre the skewer but on a horizontal dropout they can act as a but of insurance against a skewer coming loose and working its way backwards.
Removing the skewer on a horizontal dropout with a Zipp wheel can be catastrophic if you’re not careful as the freehub can come off with the cassette and you’ll spend the rest of your bike split looking for pawls!

Right. Bike is back at the shop. Exmouth was rammed so it took an age to get there and park up. It’s only 3 miles away ffs.

I think I’m ready to race, I’ve reached the can’t be arsed stage. Went to the pool for a final swim before heading south tomorrow and just wasn’t feeling it. Gave up after 700m and went and sat in the sauna instead.

Little loop today following the course from Carew Castle around to Tenby. It all comes flooding back. Wiseman’s and Saundersfoot don’t seem too bad when you’ve only cycled 20 odd kms and haven’t swam 3.8km!

Ive just watched this years race briefing and im sure they’ve changed the no overtaking sections from when ive done it before. Not a problem for me, just mentioning it for the faster ones here to bear in mind.
Also you cant cross the centre of the road and i do remember a couple of tight corners that needed to be done at an appropriate speed especially when there are other riders around.
