Ironman World Champs Nice Sept 10th

I watched Cam’s Breakfast with Bob video earlier - always liked him and still do. He’s a good guy to have in the sport.

Ta, I’m not looking forward to those descents. I think the last one is similar to the 70.3 in 2019 and was quite twisty. I much preferred the one at St George, but I hate descending :grimacing:

Yes descents will be hairy, I think the issue is that there are faster waves coming from behind steaming through the field.

Best thing is it will be dry and as the descents are late in the bike the field should be spread more.

I’ll be watching

I would love Jan to bow out on the top step but life doesn’t work out that way.

No Norge ( ped cycle didn’t fit … contentious )

Come on Joe skip …!

I’m a couple of waves after you I think and the fastest snakes will have probably gone past me by then. There’s not a very big spread for them all so I reckon there’ll be big age group packs until the main climb, but sit in and it’ll be 20K of freewheeling before that.

At least it should be pleasant for my deathmarch when the sun goes down :joy:

I fancied a dip tonight, it looked lovely.

Whitby is better.

That looks more like Bridlington.

Which is shit.

So yeah. Whitby

Whitby does have a sandy beach unlike Nice, so yeah.

I think Chevalier and Lange will go really well at Nice. I am sure Wurf will have a solid race but not convinced he will impact the race. von Burg is likely to do well on the bike being as he knows it so well.

ETA: Chevrot will do alright too, I reckon.

Just been reading about this ?

11,000 ft of climbing ! Oh my!!

Not sure it’s that much? Supposed to be 2500m which is probably nearer to 8500ft?

Unless I’ve got my sums wrong!

Meh, Saltburn has a nicer beach :beach_umbrella:

8200ft = 2500m

Saltburn is in Cleveland.
Not Yorkshire.
Ergo, < Whitby :joy:

Old boundaries, lad, south of the Tees was Yorkshire :sunglasses:

Nah.
Owt north of Staithes is not Yorkshire.

Boulby Mine. That little beck at the A174, that’s the boundary.

Also, I refuse to accept all of that Humberside lot
Who got Yorkshire status around 2000ish.

You mean those in the East Riding? The Ridings go back a LONG way

Yup!
They can stay ERCC (which used to be embossed on some cutlery at school, but nobody liked using that, we always rooted out the NYCC “good stuff”)
