I think I did an hour or so on the virtual course last month and got nowhere, that could be really demoralising for anyone expecting a time in the first 1/3rd. The ‘catch-up’ doesn’t really happen until the end maybe.

There’s loads of climbing before you get to the proper climbs. There’s that short sharp climb when first turning left but then lots of gentle elevation gain until around Saint-Jeannette.

Did the 70.3 bike route today and it wasn’t pretty, feeling a bit drained despite going easy. Definitely not ready for this heat.
Leg was also feeling weird! Find out for sure on Sunday.
I gather water temperature is .5c under the limit today 
think pro’s are lower?
Anyway, on my way out of town I saw Frodeno doing some reps with a camera bike behind him. He was shifting as well and looking pretty lean!
Edit: despite the profile of the bike route I don’t think the descent is that fast, but it could be my poor descending. It’s twisty with blind corners and in the towns there’s potholes, speed bumps, drains…
