Lakesman 2021

Ive never felt such pressure like there will be this year - knowing the scrutiny that will come here (I say here… Poet mainly )

Sub 10… no less. Maybe 10:30?!

He’s stitched you right up!

Sub 10 aint happening. Sub 11 is the goal. Anything else is a bonus.
1:15 (this might be optimistic this year)
5:30 (hopefully safe goal)
3:59 (should be doable - see how training goes)

Your aim at outlaw was a 6 hour bike!
You should be 5:10 easily here.

Yeah but my outside FTP is like 37watts… I dont want to chase time/speed. The bike split should come under… but thats just leeway for the wheels falling off on the run (which Im sure not always helped by said bike splits).

If the run walk goes as planned then that might be 3:45… so there is scope to take a chunk under 11 - but I’m targeting 10:59 :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Same goal as me…

Won’t be getting near that at Bolton…!

Maybe this is the race.

These are all well within your sights I’d say!

Do they do a tracker on the day?

@gingerbongo i think you’ll be surprised with your speed on the 113 course compared to your usual parcours

Hopefully not

I am sure @Poet will be along shortly to remind us that the run (and bike) was short in 2019 :grinning: so you can probably knock a few mins off the run time.

Ha ha ha :rofl::rofl::rofl:

It wasn’t just “short” though was it?
It was actual miles, not metres, short.

Depends on your definition of “short”, I’ve seen shorter

Anyone less than 6ft = short.
Marathons less than 42.195km = short.
My attitude = short.

4 weeks to go…

Fed up with training in this weather

Seems like some warmth predicted over the coming weeks…just hope it can make an impact on the water temp in Derwent

Guess I’ll keep the training long until 2 weeks out and then wind it back, although will likely keep swimming the same.

I’ve been fortunate enough to dodge the rain on my rides.
Couple of downpours out running but no issue.
Gonna be interesting if the lakes start to warm up. Looks like the sun is forecast this week.

He will be!
He racked up next to me at Outlaw in 2019, in one of the “emergency” places

33! Tri preston doing half

2 going long.

If they all turn up.

Didn’t TC have a fall in 2019 during the bike? Maybe missing a finisher tee shirt? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: Probably discussed on a thread on here.

Just adding this here for reference…

Hoping for some increase over the next few weeks . “Water temperature in Derwentwater is expected to rise to 13°C in the next 10 days.

This made me laugh…“therefore is not suitable for comfortable swimming:smiley:

Which leaves less than 15 days to get up to 15c was it for the full swim??

Swim never been shortened…but lake also coldest it’s ever been in May 🤷
