Nike Zoom Fly/Vaporfly 4 and NEXT% - The Thread

The Zoom Fly is the ‘everyday Vaporfly’. Just under £100 on Nike website. Same carbon plate & upper, just different midsole foam to the 4%.

Thanks Jorgan they look a good option.
How do you find they size up?

I can tell you this evening!

I think the Flyknits upper (by definition) is a little more snug in the toe than the previous versions; certainly my Vaporfly is in the same size. But not caused any issues for me. Will report back.

Right… my 2pence worth, test done…
I’m an average runner, probably a 1.30 half, 40minute 10km if I trained for it, and maybe a 3.20 open marathon. (but I am guessing as I have never done any of those in my life)

My regular tempo run - 10/10/10/10/10 easy/medium/hard/max/easy was 10s/km quicker across the board, so at speeds from 5.15 to sub 4/kms. Whoop.

It really felt like a car with a more efficient engine and a turbo boost. So at lower speeds it just felt easier, and at higher speeds it just felt faster.

Definitely worth it.

I’m worried about the fit though. Any thoughts from more experienced runners out there?
I’ve never had problems with trainer fit before, raced in brooks (I think) and then ONs for the past 6 years. I’ve got very wide feet and a narrow ankle.
Basically

  • the shoe was tight around the forefoot
  • my ankle was slipping up and down.

I can ignore these BUT and this is the bit that worries me, the ball of my foot was definitely ‘hot’ (the best description I can think of) which was bearable but I wouldn’t want it to get any worse.
Similarly, I get the feeling some blisters around my toes (again something I have never had before) might be in the pipeline.

Yeah, the tight toe box seems to accentuate the looser heel feeling. I have elastic in mine, and my forefoot started to feel a bit numb after 15km or so. Maybe I can just loosen the elastic to remedy that. Either way, these are not a dead cert for Ironman Hamburg at the moment; they are going up against it’s little brother, the Zoom Fly FK. I’ll do my last two long runs in the ZFs and see how they feel.

I know how you feel with the heel slippage, like Jorgan I use elastic laces but have them tight at the top and slack at the bottom. I have been a ON user for the last 5 years and these are night and day and what I think is key is that you can kind of push the bike a bit harder when you use these on the run. The assist you get in the Nike compensates for going in to the red on the bike certainly upto 10KM in my experience

Yeah, let’s see.
I’m almost tempted to buy a pair of the £100 ones for training so the £200 isn’t wasted

(see what Nike have done there! I’m basically spending £300 to be able to race in a £200 shoe…)

Mine are currently sat in Castle Donington hub.
DOING FUCK ALL.
Waiting to be sent on Monday.
Tried to get Nike to send them Saturday, they need to be sure they’re not going to be delivered today :triumph:

Castle Donington is a 90 minute drive from mine…though I doubt they just like you turning up at an airport logistics hub and demanding a box

I won’t be able to run in them until Thursday now :sob:

Mine said Monday even though I paid next day. They just got delivered. Nobody home so will be at the local shop where I can pick them up on the way home from work. So don’t believe the delivery delay. I bet you get them today.

Looks like you will get yours first as mine are a whole 30 mins away! Come On Joseph!

TBH I won’t get them till I get home around 7:30 after the pool, and won’t get to run until Sunday…

Open air lido?

I’m going shopping soon, alcohol purchase depends on the arrival of those shoes :see_no_evil:

I wish, they may open the Fire exit door…

FFS. Despite telling DPD to leave it in the safe place, he didn’t deliver it & took a photo of the front door. First time they’ve done that :pensive:

Well, mine are in the bin :wastebasket:

No Drama…that’s where I told them to leave them :sunglasses:

I was worried as he was 15 mins away from me for a long time…and the tracker just showed him in the pub!

Ok. Just bought a pair of Zoom Fly.

Not sure on Nikes sizing as it been a few years since I’ve worn Nike. Their size guidance has me in a 8.5 - but I’ve been wearing Hoka Tracer2 in a 9.5 for the past 6 months and they’ve been fine.

Was stupidly in a Sweatshop earlier today but didn’t think to try them on as they were still selling them at the 139 retail.

Settled on a 9, I guess we’ll see. Delivery said Monday so not too long to wait!

Looks like I’ll be in the pub shortly :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye::sun_with_face::fire:
Seeing as these neon beasts haven’t yet arrived :sob:

I actually want to skip swimming and head straight home to my new shoes…And these are only the Zoomfly’s, imagine how giddy I would be with the next%'s

I’ve not been this excited about a pair of shoes since those high heels I got from an…wait wrong forum…
