Yes. Toe box on the Alphas is proper roomy…but…I had the arch issue and half sizing up fixed it
I took advantage of the much reduced price on the Alphas and had my first run in them yesterday. The arch rub is noticeable while walking around the house but disappeared as soon as I started running in them. They feel very cushioned and springy but are no faster than any of my other shoes. My main criticism of them is the amount of noise they make - you couldn’t sneak up on anyone while wearing them that’s for sure! Unlike every other pair of Nike’s I’ve worn, the Alphas actually grip the road when it’s wet so that was a nice surprise. I’ll try a few more runs in them before deciding whether to keep them as I’m not sure I can put up with the noise they make. Slap, slap, slap, slap…
Ha ha ha - it does get quieter
I did intervals in my Zoom Flys on Tuesday night and the lack of grip on a cold path was scary at times.
You’d think Nike might have come up with a solution to their lack of grip by now. I was going to buy some of the discounted trail shoes but every review I read said how terrible they were on any surface other than bone dry.
Last couple of years I’ve fallen for the Nike marketing and sales. Not that impressed with the Pegasus, Terra Kiger OK in dry hard packed trails. I wore the Kigers in a race today with a mixture of mud and tarmac. Useless on the mud. Back to inov8s for off road.
Got my 25% bday discount code … and used it on non-running shoes!
Bought my eldest some new trainers, as she’s grown out of hers and bought myself some skate/casual shoes for the first time in, i don’t know, 15 years maybe.
Nike SB Dunk Low, I hope?
Janowski are also allowable, as are Blazers
I have no idea what you are talking about good boy.
I bought a few to try out, as it’s a new area for me this whole trousers and trainers thing!
2 x types of ‘Shane’ and a Blazer Lo Pro
The mid blazers are a total clusterF to get on and off.
I like just being able to slide trainers on and off
The lo’s are nice
I mean, why even wear shoes if you aren’t running?

Independent research verify certain super shoes are faster, and some detail and myth busting too.
Think the actual paper was posted earlier in this thread?

It’s a good read and the takeaways resonates with me certainly around the points on cadence and heel striking.
And the polar opposite Alphaflys on a 10min/km runner:
Maybe I will wear them for my next Ironman shuffle after all
Really enjoyed that, thanks for sharing.
Shame the Brooks, that I’ve got, are towards the bottom of the list
the 5/10k ‘vaporfly’ came out this morning. The new streakfly. I saw it come out fairly prompt and tried to get a pair but couldn’t add it to my basket and sold out now.
Hopefully people will race in them and its not for dickhead scalpers…
Size 4 left
They’re “cheap” too
not if you need a shoe for each toe…
