Nike Zoom Fly/Vaporfly 4 and NEXT% - The Thread

I’m selling these shoes to myself now :man_facepalming: £133 Alphaflys, must resist. I can just see myself looking back next summer before a big race saying why the fuck didn’t you buy them then??

My 4% are still looking good though and the research say they don’t lose their benefit as rumoured originally. :innocent:

Is that not the old Pegasus Turbo? ZoomX foam without the plate, lower profile but also less cushioning. I had a pair, I did like them for shorter stuff like parkrun, less bounce so did not have the leg saving benefit but you could get your turnover up for a sprint. Wouldn’t pay full price for them, wait until you can get them for ~£80 like the normal Pegasus.

Think turbo x was a combo of react and zoom x

Also the streakfly has a mid foot shank (as opposed to full plate) but more importantly is about 40 g lighter than the peg turbo I think

Where can I get Alphas for £130?

I know they had a sale before Christmas but they’re £180 from Nike aren’t they?

Keller sport with premium membership

Keller sports ok ? Seems a big discount in relation to anyone else.

How would these size ? I know that in the Hokas I go half a size up - same here ?

Yeah, others here tipped me off, and I’ve got three pairs of Nikes from them so far.

Are Nike selling these yet?

I’ve put over 1,200km on my first pair of 4%, and they’re still more cushioned and sprightly that any other non-supershoe I own. They’re not as good as a new pair, but they’re still superior to standard shoes. That old pair are my go to if I have a niggle…they still take a lot of stress off the legs versus other training shoes

My 4% are finally broken, no idea how many k, but maybe 1500 pretty much all at race pace. Now they feel flat and non responsive and they are taking the full blame for the sh!t parkrun I did the other week.

Also I just returned a pair of Milers (I ordered the wrong size) and they’ve refunded it all. In fact they’ve refunded too much, my premium membership as well!

It’s not unbearable, but I do get this with Alphas. I also get numb feet like I used to get with other shoes, but never had with any iteration of the vaporfly.

The Alphas just don’t seem as smooth a ride. Or anything like the claims I made about all the vapors (the comfiest running shoe I’ve ever worn). And I don’t really sense the same propulsion as with vapors.

I’m running in the Alphas a lot at the moment, in an attempt to take some pressure off my legs as I try and ramp back up a bit faster than normal, from a very poor end to 2021. In that regard, they’re working well. But I can see why a lot of elite runners, and top amateurs are still running in VF Next%. That’s what I’ll use at Boston

The 4% were amazing.
The Next% were far too “flat” at the front. I really don’t get on with them.
Alpha’s :man_shrugging:t4:

Although you’ve reminded me I should really be wearing one of them to build back up, so cheers :+1:t3:

Boston, MA? We should start a thread . I have a feeling @jeffb also had a deferred entry.

I have same feeling regarding 4%\VF\Alpha. I am persevering with the alphas but not feeling the love .

Yes, I’m in at Boston as well. Can’t remember which ones I used at Manchester now.

Just need to be able to start training again!

Hopefully see you both there.

I’m using the Alphas as my LSD shoe and the Next % as the tempo/speed work. For me, over 5 &10km the vertical oscillation is to great for me using the Alphas and that research echoed my own sentiments towards the shoes.

I’m fairly certain you wore Alphas.

No idea how I’ve retained that info - sad!

Haha, I think I did because I think I get the arch rubbing with the Next%

That’s some memory though!
