I keep buying blue shoes, no wonder I’m not winning!

Tried out the new tempo zoom next whatever’s at the parkrun this morning.

They felt a bit slappy when I was running slow and didn’t feel as lively or bouncy as the Alphafly’s or next%’s. Or as smooth as the flyknit’s.

But… that’s not to make them sound bad, they were comfortable and I don’t think I’m really in 19:31 shape, especially as although it felt hard it wasn’t flat out pace. So they do offer a decent benefit I think.

Having said that it was good conditions, about 16c and only a bit of a breeze but in a good direction for that course.

For £85 though they’re excellent for B type races or hard sessions when you don’t want to use your best shoes

Personally, I never really liked them from the moment I got them. But I now hate them as they’re the shoe that seemingly triggered my achilles tendinopathy. Anyone who wants a lightly used pair of size 8’s, you’re free to have them if you cover the postage as I won’t be using them again!

Can’t say I’m a massive fan of the full Alphas either to be honest. I’m not sure I particularly like the air pod design and the way it feels. But they’re better than the Tempos. The more standard vaporfly shoes were just more comfy/fluid.

My alphas are relegated to the easy long runs so there is no chance of feeling beat up afterwards

On the tempo next %, once I was over the slapping sound of the shoe (which I think is better after 30 miles or so), I like it, it’s fast without feeling fast. Progressed up to 2 hours in them by, but after Thursdays long run, some Doms in my calf that I’ve not had before, and previously, the same in the hamstrings !

On the Alphafly, I just picked up a second pair at £133 from Keller. They are mustard, however lethal for my ankle bones as I’ve a habit of occasionally slicing it with the follow through of the foot - ouch :face_with_head_bandage:

Now that you’ve both mentioned it my right calf felt a bit tight afterwards, but I just put it down to general tightness and the fact I didn’t do enough stretching afterwards. I’ll keep an eye on it.

I do the same! I have scars on my right ankle

Tried a longer run in the tempo zoom next% tonight and I think I can see what stenard means, the right one was definitely rubbing at my achilles and seemed to be pressing on it, it had the start of a blister when I finished, only did 10K.

They are definitely not a shoe for endurance training or steady runs, they are slappy and I also kicked my ankles a few times, but TBF I do occasionally do that with other trainers.

I did 2K tempo and they are a completely different shoe. I also thought that an easy pace my HR\RPE felt easier for the pace I was doing.

I think they are likely to be going back, don’t want to risk aggravating the ankle or calf which is a shame as for the price I paid they are a good interval training or parkrun type shoe.

I put another 6 miles on the Tempos this morning doing an interval run.

Definitely getting quieter but still noticeably louder than my alphaflys.

Putting a padded plaster on my left ankle bone each time and one on the Achilles area on the left one.

Definitely an interval shoe for an hour session or less - I think I might have to go at the back of these shoes with a hammer to soften them up. They are so fast though :dash::dash::dash::dash:

That’s what Sowler says but I haven’t tried the website

Yeah app only

This a sign I need to buy a new pair?

They’ve got less than 100k in them so no idea why they’ve done that. Maybe the foam inside is still good?

3 sprint tris left this year and I was hoping to use them.
