Nike Zoom Fly/Vaporfly 4 and NEXT% - The Thread

And….

** And how many miles can you expect for this price? According to Heidmann, there’s a disclaimer in all 521 boxes stating that the shoe is designed for ‘one race – so one marathon – plus familiarisation time’.**

Look at her form in the image with the two male pacemakers

That’s how I think I look when I’m running :joy::rofl:

Fruity might be able to finish the set :joy:

I just used Pegasus today but my feet are a bit sore! Probably lack of running than the trainers though.

220km in and my Vaporfly 2s aren’t looking very healthy

Edit, not sure that photo came out great, let’s try again:

So to be a dullard; could somebody just spell-out for me the current Nike high-end running shoe line in order of precedence/cost? Thanks.

(it used to simply be Zoom Fly & Vaporfly 4%!)

#1 - Nike Air Zoom Alphafly NEXT% [on version 2]
Accompanying training shoe: Nike Air Zoom Tempo NEXT% [on version 1]
#2 - Nike ZoomX Vaporfly NEXT% [on version 3]
Accompanying training shoe: Nike Zoom Fly 5
#3 - Nike Streakfly [on version 1]

The Nike Air Zoom Tempo NEXT% is a cracking shoe, I I think it’s faster than the Streakfly. However, I’ve had air pod on my Tempos and my Alphaflys pop.

Thanks. Yes, I got a pair of Tempo Next % a coupe of years ago for a song on eBay (about £66 iirc) and they’re still going strong. Alas nothing that cheap on there these days.

The Streakfly are for “proper” 5km runners really.

Even though I’m not a “proper” runner, I love the lightweight of them, plus the “road feel” they offer.

The blue ones are really poor quality, the others fair a lot better.

Really?!?!
Just a certain colourway is duff :exploding_head::scream:

My son’s shoes lasted 120km and failed in the same spots

I quite like the feel of them, but performance wise I seem to get nothing from them.

They have become my go to shoe for long days of walking on tarmac (e.g. trip to NY or Disneyland).

Is this the Tempo or Streakfly? I like the look of the ‘BRS’ blue Tempos.

Last week while in Canada I popped into the Nike Store - there’s a section in the back with loads of pairs of end of line shoes. Mixed in with all the Nike Crap was a pair of Next % in size 44 (UK 9) for 100 candian dollars - I am now the owner of a brand new pair of Next % for £60.77

Out of interest how many of you have tried ‘supershoes’ from other brands? Judging from reviews the past few years seems like everyone is catching up. For example the Puma Nitros seem to be well thought of and at our running club it seems like Saucony seems to be the super shoe of choice.

Just interested as there’s a whole thread here about Nike, which makes sense as they paved the way. Is everyone just sticking to what they know?

For me, yes.

I’ve struggled for years to find a shoe that fits my hobbit feet. And finally Nike managed to fit the bill, so I’ve got a whole bunch of Nike shoes. With the supershoes’ price, it’s simply not worth the risk for me.

Only other brand I’d consider would be NB, as they’ve fit me in the past. I just found they didn’t last as long.
