There is indeed a nike.qa, just looked & it’s even worse 1600 QAR is about 350 quid

What’s this member access thing? Subscription or something? The black ones look like a pair of school shoes anyway

My current pair have been great, they have lasted since 2021 which is 2 years each. But they are falling apart now.

edit: also- 289 USD in the states, 289 GBP in UK, exchange rate 1.34 USD to 1 GBP?

But we pay VAT. So they’re actually only £245 ish

Not sure what GST is in the US? Varies by state and moon phase, I think?

I mean, some places in the ME don’t pay tax on income, so people buying their shoe there might be paying even less “labour exchanged for fun tokens” :woman_shrugging:t2:

Absolute cost is tosh. Look at things by “how many hours have I worked to be able to buy that” and then decide if it was the super ace week at work when an hour was equivalent to 15mins, or that awful week that dragged on and on…

There’s some super shoes on Sports Pursuit currently.

I’ve returned to normal shoes only, but kind of easy decision for me…but in general I’m starting to lose the point. I like Spooners idea of using them to minimise impact/recovery but I’m never running that much so they’re race day specials for me.

Some of the other brand super shoes can be under a hundred though - was looking at some adizero somethings the other day

Meh. I paid £120 for some Air Max in 1996.
And they didn’t make me fast.

Inflation.

452km on these OG 4%

A good chunk came off the back of the sole this morning - they still feel pretty bouncy though

That’s what happened to my 4% after a few years! Ran in them a bit more before putting out to pasture

Only 452km :exploding_head:

They sat for a long time.

I think I have some Vapour NEXT 2s with a bout 100km in the cupboard.

Agree! I have over 1300km on my original pair of 4% fly knit, and they don’t look anything like that!

I found that using the vaporflys on anything other than smooth tarmac probably shortened the life. Eg gravel tracks for park run. Sharp stones penetrated the thin hard rubber on the sole and then massacred the soft foam.

these are my Alphaflys, guessing well over 1000km on these but the upper is separating from the sole. I use them for Tri and for some faster training runs, and am suspicious that putting talc in them maybe hasn’t helped either.

have already superglued them back together a couple of times.

Amazing shoes though & I’d wear them for all running if cost was no object.

thanks for the link @GeordieM , unfortunately I can’t get it to work from here but looks promising & will try again back in UK :+1:

Any UK size 10 ? (Eu 44)

Can’t open that site here but might ask my brother to order some if they do

The full size range was available yesterday

Hmm. If I knew they’d last … are alphas any more durable than vapors? Feels like an annual purchase than a long term” investment”
