Nike Zoom Fly/Vaporfly 4 and NEXT% - The Thread

Do you really think the Next% are narrower then?

I’ve been in contact with Nike about exchanging the Next% for the 4%, but no luck :sob:

Sorry I meant the blue fly knit rather than the NEXT% the neon demons are really broad . I tested the NEXT% again yesterday and to get the best I had to focus on the heel to toe motion to get the best out of them. In the 4% you can heel strike all day long and bounce along quite happily but with the NEXT% it’s more spread out in my opinion and there is less of the heel bounce.

Cheers @leahnp - Yeah, that was a quick run! You’re roughly the same pace as I am (about 20s quicker over HM for you) I’d have been barfing on that
I don’t do that many hard runs, but I seem to pull it off on race day

TriTalkers Unite!!!

I’m awful at finding a bargain on Google

I cannot find a UK11 in the 4% at RRP (I’m not paying over £210 for them!)

Can you help?
I’ve found this link for you little pixies:

Almost didn’t read the 150 unread posts, but what a find those blue fly knits might be. Was due to collect an orange pair this afternoon, so needless to say if I like them they’ll be going back and exchanged for different colour.

NRC app was originally set to US - Noticed they’re selling the 4% on there.

Next% 10k in 36:34

Got “chicked” :sob:

Last 5km in the 4% was 18:20 (with a huge explosion after an opening 3:20 km!)
Season 5km PB is 18:04

Pretty disappointed in myself (and the shoes!)
Really wanted a 36:10, but it rained yesterday and was 20 degrees this morning, so breathing was laboured.
All the predictions pointed to somewhere between 36.30 and 36.50, I just wanted a little bit more from the shoes :money_mouth_face::wink:

I don’t think walking around Great Orme Head yesterday helped (but it was fun!) :see_no_evil:

£198.92 with shipping and taxes :ok_hand:t4::+1:t3:
I’ll see what 0.5 size up feels like…

As you mentioned earlier, big advances only tend to come around so often with tiny gains in between.
Especially when it comes to more immeasurable things as its mostly PR to rebrand a product and convince you to upgrade. At least with iPhone example can see the small marginal steps each generation.

Great time Poet, maybe that 3:20 opening K didn’t help? you don’t sound convinced with the next%, I’ll probably stick with my fly’s for now.

Jeff

@Poet I had the same feeling with the Zoom FlyKnits regarding them feeling heavy with my comparison being Asics DS that i normally train in.
The FlyKnits feel very comfortable to run in though after a couple of runs in them so i am hopeful they will work out well for me.
How do you find them compared to the Structure 22s?
Thinking about the Structure for my long steady runs.

Well done on your 10K…not that far from where i am based.

Anyone see the Roth coverage on you tube? Cam Wurf was (according to the commentator) apparently running in some prototype trainers, didn’t see what they were in transition but were lime green in colour. Lucy Charles also in some lime green Nike shoes anyone confirm they are the super shoes?
Lucy nailed the win Cam held on for a podium so pretty good day for both.

This is entirely anecdotal, but I ran in my Next% at Challenge Roth yesterday, and I got a PB on the run (3:24:15). Today, a few hours later, my legs feel good and I am very mobile.

No blister despite lots of water being poured over my head. No hot spots.

Awesome running!!!

Yes great run looked good on the coverage I saw.

Super easy jog with the dog and first run in the Zoom Fly Flyknits (The Pretender to the Throne) and initial thoughts are:

Feel good. Nice on, the fit is better than the 4%

The foam is not as bouncy as the 4% (a bad thing)

Secure on the foot and slightly wider footplate (good thing)

Great training shoe for up to tempo work (I would still use my Zoom Fly SP for speed work)

The foam felt equivalent to that of the Next%, as in, the pop/zing feel is very similar (I’m a forefoot runner)

For £56 these are an awesome shoe.
For their RRP, no.

That’s kind of what i’m expecting from them. If they fit i’ll use them for all tempo and speedwork at least, but probably for parkruns as well as i’m not racing enough proper races to justify an all out race shoe at this point in time.

Mine are due in tomorrow, hopefully in time for me to do a speed sesh on the seafront that evening.

Also…2741 had a pair of 4% on.
But which ones?
(They’re not the Japanese 3D printed ones)

If they arrive, then awesome. But for a brand new website, offering shoes at that price which are otherwise unavailable, I’m not risking it until you have a positive experience!

If that’s legit, you could make a sweet profit on StockX: https://stockx.com/nike-vaporfly-4-flyknit-gyakusou-team-red

Lucy Charles wore the NEXT% shoes and Sarah Crowly (2nd) wore the 4%.
