I think I can see why your bike splits aren’t as good as they could be…
I’ve decided discretion is the better part of valour.
I’ll be going for a half mara PB on the treadmill instead
Apart from water ingress to bearings & frame is it not a right palaver to get a jet was out of a shed/garage?
I’ve got a 10foot section of hose that I use & while washing my bike with a nice warm bucket of Autoglymed water I can get a good close inspection & register anything that might be wearing/corroding/fraying/working loose/etc/etc.
£1 for 4 minutes from the garage I pass on the way home.
I give it a wipe down when I get home, I generally do pre-ride checks the evening before.
I don’t jet wash all the time - just when it’s awful weather.
Anyway…speaking of Nike’s, I see that Reekie was “accused” of equipment doping yesterday
I think she has been for a while now, it yeah certainly coming to a head yesterday. Great Times she’s running. And that young Swedish lad breaking the pile vault records again!
This thing can just live next to the bikes, it’s tiny, and needs nothing but a bucket

Yeah, but she said the shoes are shit and don’t make any difference to her, which is a surprising thing to say about your sponsors new thing - maybe she needs to come here and see how good the road versions are.
12:51 5K anyone, WTF, guess which shoes he was wearing, not that they’d make me that fast, so they are a fairly small gain over 5k?
Yeah, Nike themselves say a racing flat is faster over 5km.
All about the recovery #Gainz though, innit?
That was what Hoffman said on Helen Murray’s podcast this week. Says he ran 2:39 in a pair of Pegasus earlier last season, then switched to NEXT% in training. He feels they’re a bit faster when racing, but claimed the major benefit was using in training and the quicker recovery.
I’m going to order those doodle BRS ones on 28th Feb for my half on 15th March and do a solid two weeks in them…I doubt the Alpha’s will arrive in time
On the drop date it is saying Feb 27th which would work better for me as I could get them delivered on the Friday ready for racing on the Sunday
Pink Pegs have gone back.
Got sick of them slipping off the heel or strangling my fat feet.
I’ll stick with the lead weights that are the Zoom Structure
I was chatting to my brother about this, and was surprised to hear the same thing. Basically a bunch at his club oop north have been training in them, and were able to up their mileage massively as they weren’t getting anywhere near as much soreness from running. That’s got to be worth way more than the race day benefit (like taking steroids out of competition!)
Quite a big financial cost as you’d presumably need a new pair every month doing 70 miles p/w!
Unless you keep sending them back every 28 days!! haha
the next% have a much longer lifespan than the 4%.
If you’re training in them, you are probably more bothered about the foam, than the carbon plate?
so would the zoomx pegs be a good stand in on that basis then do you think?
Yeah good point
No.
They feel totally different to the 4% and Next%.
Even though they’ve got ZoomX foam, it’s not enough and doesn’t feel as squishy, especially when running downhill.
My first run in them, my legs were trashed for three days afterwards.
