Mrs FP is doing an online shop now, Iā€™ve asked her to check. Sheā€™s an accountant though, so I donā€™t like your chances. :wink:

I know itā€™s to take the piss out of GCN and GTN but Iā€™ve found loads of value in that Dan Loyd series.

Heinrich? The head of the Gestapo in Nazi Germany? Yeah, not controversial take at all, impressed at the schools teaching that at such a young age though.

More #sciencefacts and myth busting for Tinpot Poets

Aimlessly wasting time on twitter when someone made a point about free school breakfasts and how you could buy a nutritious breakfast for 1 for a month for Ā£2.50 (2kg of oats!) . great point for that debate. I donā€™t much care for that though. So past the politics crap, a real gem, apparently porridge is one of the worst things you can eat for breakfast, its unhealthy, full of chemicals and spikes insulin. this was from a ā€œdrā€ with lots of numbers rather than letters after his handle (medical background not confirmed :wink: )

Well it then got into a ā€œheatedā€ nutrition debate, no I dont post on ā€œXā€. Apparently fruit is bad for you as well. Where do these people get dug up?

Fruit = Fructrose : - Fructrose = sugar :- sugar = bad
Rather simplistic take, it can be bad for you if eating as ā€œfructroseā€ alone but lets not forget the fibre and other micros that fruit supplies

and porridge? really? Its low GI, has protein, use milk for fats/more protein, add nuts/seeds/fruit. It is almost the ā€œperfectā€ breakfast, surely or am I missing something

Its worth following Dr Idz, hes a doctor specialising in nutritional research and he debunks these knobbers that make these baseless claims.

I think, and donā€™t quote me, that there are ranges of porridge. Cheap, industrial scale manufacturing, crap oats etc at one end of the scale, and then steel cut, small batch stuff from organic or regen agriculture is the best.

But thatā€™s absolutely not saying the ā€˜bottomā€™ end of porridge is a bad choice! Unless itā€™s laced with other preservatives, salts and sugars etc

Still a million miles better than cheap bread with cheap marg and cheap jam!

I think these sachets of flavoured porridge arenā€™t the greatest compared to organic ones, but compared to a maccies breakfast they must be significantly better.

But no harm in a maccies the odd occasion!

Whilst OP had to be a Brit, Iā€™m guessing a lot of the commenters are Septics, so not used to proper food and this is probably closer to the mark, discussing US style ā€œflavoured porridgeā€ thatā€™s, lets be honest, not really porridge

Yeah, theyā€™re filth but tasty, I prefer the sausage and egg.

They do fill you for hours though.
