Outlaw half - Nottingham

That’s what you get for racing up North you lot!

Oh wow, ok, that’s a full cold weather approach. Hmmm

Can always unzip it if you’re running a bit warm.

Weymouth 18 I didn’t bother and I’ve never been so cold and miserable on the bike.

Wore it at Helvellyn last year and it was perfect.

Will go for mitts as my hands were frozen to the point of not being able to unclip my helmet at that Dorney sprint last time out. They’ll get soaked but hopefully provide a little warmth

I have a perfetto light gilet. Might use that. Definitely reassessing the gloves situation. I also have the RoS castelli gloves, and they’re pretty warm

Take a pair with you and call it on the day?

I still can’t believe I’m prepping for yet another wet tri

I’ve done 100 miles around Derby today (next door to Notts) and it’s grim.
I mean, like Outlaw 2019 bad :sob:

Take gloves, I’ve still got pins and needles in my hands an hour later :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Just seen it. Well done for running after that. Must have been shit!

I’m going to take a variety of foul weather kit.

Let’s hope it doesn’t end up the same way as 2019

Yeah - definitely not!!!

That’s what was predicted for Derby today :rofl:
As soon as your wet, with that 10-15kmh wind, it’s feels like ARCTIC

It’s my feet I now don’t know what to do about. They’re going to get soaked, and without having the time to be able to put heavy duty overshoe options on, any form of sock are just going to get as cold and wet as not having them in the first place!

Bloody hate crap weather races!

Do you have any sealskin/waterproof socks you could wear for the bike? Then whip them off for fresh ankle socks for the run? Would only take a matter of seconds to put on.

Accepting that feet will be soaked.

Going to take a small plastic box for transition and have trainers and a fresh set of socks for T2

I do, but without leggings or something, water just runs down the legs into the socks and then the waterproof nature means it has nowhere to go.

I was thinking similar but with plastic bags, but a small box would be better. Fairly sure we have one that would fit my trainers…

Really?

Maybe mine have a decent seal then as i wore them a few times this winter on wet rides in shorts and didn’t have that trouble. Probably more fluke than anything else!

Definitely true of the standard ones. I also have the ones with a sticky seal type thing at the top. They work better, but only the mid calf length ones. The ankle ones still let water in as my ankles are so thin!

I guess I could try the mid length ones I have…

Bingo

Bye bye shiny new shoes :sob::sob::sob:

Yeah, I’m tempted by my original NEXT%. Werent they the ones specifically designed after the wet Boston and that the original 4% flyknit accumulated too much water? But then I’m sure they said one of the purported benefit of the 2’s was that they “drained” better

Not wanting to pour even more cold water on this but I’m starting to seriously consider binning this off.
I’ve done my fair share of miserable weather events over the years Triathlon X 2017 and IM Wales in the same year to name but a few. I’m not trying to qualify for anything or even going for a particular time or PB and so I’m just not sure if I can justify spending a weekend away from the family only to come back and say ‘that was shit’.
Watching the forecast closely for a glimmer of hope…

I’m in the same boat if you pardon the pun. This was to be a swim bike for me anyhow but was expecting a mass start swim to see how my race swim has come on then smash the bike leg in some glorious sunshine then enjoy kicking back watching everyone else race.
10 quid for parking + btf licence and a damp squid rapidly losing interest.

Edit: cold damp squid!
