Outlaw half - Nottingham

:face_vomiting::scream::face_vomiting:

Are they now charging for parking?
It used to be in with race entry?

The BTF license is a bit of an odd one.
I get public liability insurance elsewhere, so it does seem a crock of sh**

At least with all the rain, the water levels are going to be higher and a bit more pleasant but cooler.

Short sleeve Tri suit but if forecast stays the same would put some neoprene gloves on for comfort/ stop any slippage while cornering.

Shoes will go sockless, plenty of talc in there, sandwich bag for waterproofing under a Lycra overshoe, run out of transition with them, keep my feet dry for half hour while I get settled.

Two flaws with this though :

  1. running In shoes on wet muddy bank will get the cleats clogged and getting clipped in could be a problem.
  2. I beginning to think the bike leg will get canned. They will not want the PR disaster during a pandemic of running a triathlon in dubious conditions.

Let’s hope it’s only light rain

I’m glad I’ve just driven away from Notts for my race .
The 40 Mins to get to Sheffield took 75. Visibility was awful.

Good luck all

#DadChat …

Surely Sawley / A50 Stoke / M6 was your best bet?
That A1(M) but after the M18 is sketchy on a Friday

Unless you’re going via Barnard Castle, to check your eyesight

Anyways, good tips from @Blueandy :+1:t3:

Google said M1. It was the weather rather than traffic till the A66 (lovely views tho)

Decided to throw in the towel.
Cancelled hotel and saved £95
Felt disappointed and despondent and started drinking beer.
Noticed on the Lakesman thread that the weather there on Sunday looks pretty good.
Remembered that A Day in the Lakes is happening on Sunday
Checked Tri Hard website and saw they’ve got late entries
Paid them the Ā£95 I’d just saved to enter
Now currently trying get my race head back on.

The route has changed but I love this race, was one of the first events I did that really got me into triathlon. Looking forward to Sunday again.

Good luck to you all doing Outlaw

What is ADITL @Mr-me?

A Day in The Lakes
A half iron distance race run by Tri Hard events based at the opposite end of Ullswater to the Helvellyn tri.
Think it was the location for an early tri talk 1.0 get together but that was way before my time
Bike used to be seriously challenging but they changed the route after the Pooley Bridge bridge collapsed in floods. Still challenging ish but not too bad.
Run had also become less of challenge but still mainly on well worn trails on the fells.

Having to have a serious think about my kit-definitely not going to be able to use the 4%s that I was planning on using for the Outlaw half.

The old ADITL course at Pooley Bridge was the first tri I did in the UK, FMD what a shock  :boom:

Got a feeling the run might have changed to a straight out and back on the road, but that could be the short race so might be worth checking as you might not need trail shoes.

Did the first couple of races and enjoyed it, hadn’t done many half’s at that point but did a bit of fell running.

Remember disappearing into the bracken on the descent :joy:

Haha saw that.

There’s a bike that’s got a full power bar cover that they used to give out at iM. The saddle is teetering on the edge. Little bit of wind and that’ll be on the floor

You ready powerhouse !?

Hope everyone racing tomorrow goes well.

Weather report now says drizzle :+1:t2:

My social media timeline seems to be full of people moaning about the length of transition, longer than the race by the sounds of them…

Good luck racers tomorrow!
