That is some quality front end of the field. Wowsers.
The middle isn’t bad, sub-20 only good enough for 332nd!
I just sorted the event results by number of finishers and there’s clearly a mid-June smackdown each year.
Had a great run at my local today - results say 19:51 which is my quickest time since September last year. We’re off to Bushy next week to see some friends so I may need to give it a hard effort and see how I get on.
First lick of exercise in 3wks for me today. Was worried about my ribs but they held up ok. I did however, get that breathing issue again. Shuffled the first 4km with Mrs FP and walked the last km for a 33.46
LO ran a 24.22, which felt ’ pretty easy’ apparently ![]()
I don’t know what this breathing thing is. It feels like I’ve eaten 2kg of peanuts, that kind of feeling. Of course, being out of shape and the size of a bloody whale could be a reason, but let’s pretend it’s something else. ![]()
Wowsers
fastest M50-54 16m40, and even that wasn’t fast enough to beat the first 10 year old ![]()
70 people 15m59 or better
19m29- edit no- 19m26 at Taunton today. Felt ok but still a way off 18m59 or better which is target for the year. Need to pull the socks up & make a plan before summer over.
I reckon could knock a few seconds off for a road course, but even so got to make a plan to find them extra seconds soon.
Tourist trail today at Barnard Castle, yeah that one
fairly new event.
Nice location but the run is just about 3 laps around a meadow which could do with a cut. XC spikes would probably be best in winter.
Got a 25 later so planned to go steady but the first K was slightly faster than planned as I tried to get a bit of space, it was a small field though.
Was hanging around in about fifth when I rolled my left ankle again
that was bloody painful and as I hobbled for a bit 3 people went past, mostly jogged it home from there in 23:50. Not one I’d rush back to.
One more towards completing the NE region, except another new one started today ![]()
Car park was at a decent location ![]()
That place is crying out for a jet wash ![]()
I plodded around Winchester with Mrs FP for a 30.30.
LO went 24.10
I seem to have lost the ability to look up AGs in the results. The mail gave LO’s position in her AG, but the AG themselves are missing. ![]()
I think they’re having technical issues. The results in the app were missing data and icons.
Thankfully it was an overcast one for us, but still bloody warm with a double buggy, and wearing a standard cotton t shirt probably wasn’t the wisest choice (wanted to avoid extra washing, so used what I’d slept in).
Went out a little too hard at Bushy parkrun this morning - hung in for dear life and got an official time of 19:43 (watch said 19:38).
After the first minute my watch said I was at 5:43 miling pace (about 17:45 overall time!). The first mile or so are where most of these “bests” came from.
Bowes Museum?
Right next door to Barnard Castle school on the way in from the A66
Yes, just on the outskirts of town. A few years since we’ve been into Bowes itself.
Went to Street with my mate Craig today, I don’t really like the course, it’s too contrived. Craig was recovering from injury, so we jogged it in for a 30.03 just chatting, which made it a whole lot better.
Meanwhile in Winchester, LO ran an easy 24.05 and Mrs FP ran a 30.30
We’ve just run our 300’th ZugDIYParkRun - since October 2020 we’ve held the run without fail at 9am every saturday and every 1 Jan. Coincidentally at the 300th run, we had our 400th new runner, collectively we have run 23,525km
Jogged around at very hot and humid Winchester course with Mrs FP. Walked the last 400mtrs, which I planned to anyway because of tomorrow’s ‘race’. Did feel a slight tightening in the left calf but hit it with the massage gun when i got home, so ![]()
I think it was a 31:xx and LO ran. a very pedestrian 25;40 but she’s had a big week of competition.
At worden park today
Ran with my HYROX buddy ( we had a plan he had a targeted 5k tomorrow were he’s hoping to get near 20 mins)
Went at 4:15 kms all the way but started T the back ?!?
Official time 21:29 real time ( press watch as we passed start 21:03 )
It’s a crappy course but ok in the dry and quite scenic
72% age grading
1 st 55-60 ! lol
Enjoyed it
Bet you were passing people the whole way round with that strategy? ![]()
