Great effort :+1:t2:

Is there something stopping parkrun getting officially established in Switzerland? Maybe health certificates which put paid to the French parkrun?

Good luck tomorrow FP

Hydration could be key ?

Thanks mate, yeah for sure. Already started today. I have a number belt that has an expandable pouch. Think I can get a 250ml sof flask in there. Although Run Through are usually pretty good with the water stations.

I fancy a half

But my training partners knee .. he’s no chance of that far

Might have a go before my next pattaya trip

I’m too old for 5ks now

My last road half was Reading in a 1:38. I’ve let myself fall so far these days that I’ll be happy with sub 2.30 :man_facepalming:t2:

If I remember correctly it’s a four lap course and they have a water station at the far end, so effectively every 5k

Cheers @Sparky . I’ve only done one race there, a 5/20/5 duathlon. Our run course was all on the left hand side of the lake and was 2 x 2.5km loops.

It’s a 2km lake with a bit of run off space after the finish line, so it’s just over 5km around the perimeter road.

There’s distance markers every 250m on the lake and when the buoys turn red you’ve got 100m to the finish line

Yeha and it’s evil when you’re suffering. You think you’ve run about a km and you find out, nope, you’ve only done 250m!

I hated that race when I did it! :joy: It is still my pb venue though. I got really bad d&v a few days before. Wasn’t there to pussy foot around so went for my target regardless.

Inevitably blew up at about half way! :joy:

Well if I don’t win my AG, I’ll blame the 10.00pm kick off

Heading off to Blandford this morning. A great parkrun, has the advantage of being mostly flat and about 100m short…

Strava random number generator is predicting 19m09

Going to push the boat out and set pace pro to 3m48/km and see how long I can live with it… :crossed_fingers:t2::crossed_fingers:t2:

edit:

18m45 BUT the Garmin has it as a ridiculously short 4.87km. Strava was right I reckon, still a few seconds off an honest sub 19 5km. Probably need to run a few more miles and drink a few less beers.

Enjoyed it today, felt good

Ours in canx due to the food festival, but I wouldn’t be running anyway. I still have that achillies thing. Seeing the physio next week :folded_hands:t2:

I stayed local and I think it was the first parkun in at least 3 weeks. Did a 1K jog to warmup and felt pretty sluggish so started fairly conservatively. First 4K’s were pretty consistent around 4:20 and went a bit faster in the last K which is slightly downhill.

Must have been running fairly hard as my HR reached 174 which is pretty hard these days.

With about 400m to go a young lad and woman went past fairly quickly having a sprint finish, I didn’t really have the heart or legs to chase them for 8th place so let them go, they were both in 25-29!

Got over in 21:38 which was actually fairly pleasing, fastest time on that course for nearly a year and only 27 seconds off my course PB! Trying not to get too carried away!

I might head to one of the faster courses in the coming weeks and see if I can get under 21, but also don’t want to be an idiot and aggravate something

20:26 for me today. Not run all week as my ankle has been really painful for most of the week and I’ve no idea why - just woke up on Wednesday and could barely walk. All seems ok now. :person_shrugging:

Ran the first km or so right by a rather speedy youngster - he’s nearly 11 and tiny. I was going to ask his age but he’d have been programmed by his parents to say 11 as that’s the minimum age to run on your own at parkrun.

I often find some of them go out for the first 500m-1K and then totally blow up! A couple did today but TBF one kept going and was probably a minute behind me, he was maybe 14’ish though.

New course today

Haigh hall ( Wigan .. ish) more Standish really

Bonkers

2 k down hill a bit of a loop then back up the hill

( which 100% had a bigger gradient going up than down .. don’t they all ?!)

Surface .. crushed brick / forest / a bit of concrete ..not the best, only went as it’s 2 miles from my mates house .. target stay within 1 min off him .. he ran 19:50 at black pool 5 k last weekend

Boom !

20:23 beat Richard by 6? Seconds

8 th? Over all

1 st 55-60

Hamstring pulling but got it done ( Richard then beat me at wall balls . 1 st time !) so not all bad for him

You have to pay for parking ?! And this took ages at the end .. apart from that it was good

Especially the ones in football shirts. I often just wait to see them explode within five minutes. This lad had a Bedford AC top on and has a 20:36 PB on his home course from April. He seemed sensible but the heat maybe got the better of him and he ended up about 21:30 instead,
