I didn’t run yesterday as I was busy on the kitchen but Mrs FP aged up to 50-54 on Saturday and did a PB of 25.55! :+1:

Back to the tourism running today, lots of local events cancelled for ice so I went to one on the coast which was mostly on track/trail. Slightly bigger field with the cancellations as they normally only get about 40.

It was cold but the course was fine, I however wasn’t and struggled all the way! Legs were heavy and just felt laboured. Anyway, got round in 21:30.

Quite pleased I didn’t do the 20 mile race given how hard that felt. Strange how you can go from feeling good to crap in a week :man_shrugging:t2:

New all time PB at the local parkrun today with an 18:15, taking 6s off the time I set almost a year ago. It would seem I peak in March/April! Being a year older this finally pushed me over 75% age grading. Also happened to be the first finisher, for first time on the local course (previous best was 3rd).

Went sub-19 last week in Minehead having spent the day before on the booze and throwing up at 3am, so wanted to see how I might do with slightly better prep. Saying that I had breakfast and a milky coffee an hour beforehand and ended up going with the Vaporflys rather than my preferred Alphaflys. Warmup was very short, well under a km, so not sure that was perfect. Conditions were good; cool but not realy cold and very little wind. Ground was wet and a tiny bit slippy.

Taking to the start line I recognised most of the runners, and none were seriously fast, the strongest competition would probably be @JibberJim , but fortunately for me he was taking it easier this week. Took the lead after about 200m and then realised I was in for a painful morning as couldn’t turn down a chance for the ā€˜win’. A 3:25 first km was way too quick and I’m sure I paid for that, following that up with 3:35, 3:47, 3:45 & 3:40

I way over-dressed even for the easy running I was doing - part of that was the rain radar which showed rain coming in and I didn’t want to risk it - it fizzled out before it hit us - but it actually felt a lot warmer than the 0 on the temp. So I was really hot by the second lap and ended up going even easier on that one. 19:03 for me, which was also enough (uncharacteristically) for the Age Grading win.

day trip to Cardiff? :rocket:

Watermead (Leicester) is meant to be rapid!

Long Eaton is also quick.

Stretford is stupid fast (800m on a track) - so if the above two are quicker :star_struck::exploding_head:

And short! Yes you’ll get a PB but I never understand why they don’t make the distance correct when it starts and finishes on the track.

Ha ha ha :star_struck::partying_face:

By 170m. Every time. 4.83km.

but they’re adamant it is wheel measured and that it’s just the GPS cutting out under the short section of trees and cutting off the dead turn on each lap.

I’ve had my watch set to ā€œevery secondā€ recording when running there and it’s still the same.
I agree with you, that it’s certainly short.
But the organiser says something else :woman_shrugging:t4:

Wilmslow was 50-100m short, but they’ve moved the cones up the hill ever so slightly on each lap, which has made it >5km every time I’ve done it this year :clap:t3::tada:

Our only problem is the backmarkers with it being a 2 lapper. Bridge at 4.5km is a right pinch point.

Same at Stretford.
And wilmslow.

Northwich is a good one, but slow.
I enjoyed Delamere, too (just not the NYD vomiting mid-jog :face_with_peeking_eye:)

Incredibly, a guy set a ā€œtop 10 parkrun timeā€ this last weekend at Phoenix parkrun. It’s a 2.5 lap one with the same hideous hill 2.5 times. It really is an impressive achievement.

Blimey I have done that one a couple of times and it isn’t what you would call fast at all.

That hill and running along the canal section the ground is rough as well.

Parkrun on a track? I hope they aren’t using Lane 1!

Use whatever lane you like?
If they’ve ā€œwheeledā€ it in Lane 1 (racing line), then I can’t see the issue?

Here’s the offensively short parkrun in question (track in bottom left)
And yes, I’ve absolutely cherry picked this one :joy::face_with_peeking_eye:
