Well done @BadAsh and Mrs BadAsh :+1:

Marshalling today due to the dodgy hamstring, small field compared to usual, even the last person was on for 45 minutes.

First guy probably broke the CR, he was motoring.

Ours was on, had been drizzling all morning but sun came out and it was pretty warm (had to keep wiping the sweat from my eye), glad I took my jacket off before the start. It was a bit windy, certainly not PB conditions, but far from the worst it’s been.

Ours was off anyway due to the Foodie Festival. £28 entry and £15 plates, yeah nah.

Had a grand plan of cycling to a new (to me) PR running and bimbling back via a coffee stop. But managed to talk myself out of it by watching the weather app all yesterday and seeing :cloud_with_rain::cloud_with_lightning::tornado:.

In the end I could probably have got away with it, just the wind materialised and it would have been a grind into it to get home, but an extra hour in bed and take the car won the day.

Surprisingly tough run, loop of school fields easy enough apart from the headwind sections, but a loop down a track and through some trees had enough elevation to notice, and narrow out a back sections with sharp turns made it hard to get a rhythm. Picked off a few of the fast starting kids in front of me, but still beaten by couple. Couldn’t lift the pace for the finish, maybe marathon or Thursday’s TT still in the legs.

Rain has arrived now, do I trust the forecast and aim for an early bike ride tomorrow?

Mostly a parkwalk for me today, to get me out of bed and doing something. Had a couple of little jogs and shuffles and managed 38 minutes :joy:

Working on some worst case strategies for Berlin, something like that would be around 5:30 :frowning:

Hopefully I’ll be in a position to jog by then though.

23.59 for me today in the middle of a 15km morning.

LO sprinted away for a 23.51. PB for her at Winchester but 6 secs off of her outright PB. :+1:

Made it this week.

3.7k each way.

Then the parkrun, a two lapper trail round a lake. Legs still sore from gym on Thursday so did lap 1 as an extended warmup jog and built into it.
Second lap I spotted someone I run with so caught her and we pushed on a little.
Some fast late starters came past and she tried to stick with them and me with her.
Couldn’t quite hold it so dropped a few seconds back to finish with a relatively slow 23.55.

Run home was painful as there’s two chunky hills to get over.

Woohoo, I managed to jog all of mine today with no obvious problems. Was pleased that I managed to stick with the pace and not risk it when people were going past. About 5 minutes off my course PB :joy:

Hopefully it’s onwards and upwards

Slept in until 0811 and had a few coffees and eggs on toast instead.

Same as training, IMO :person_shrugging:t3::white_check_mark:

Park run debut this morning in the pouring rain.

Put my hand up and got a nice clap as a newbie, I picked my mate up on the way and he won for the third time on the bounce 17:30 or some obscene madness.

Ran in baggy shorts ( I use for boxing ) heavy trail shoes and vest and cheap orca cycling jacket. Standing water in quite a few places, I thought I’ll start at the back …

The “ park walkers “ t shirts and jackets should have given it away I guess, the gun went and those around me started walking, slowly, took some time to get were I could actually run and kept the heart rate at 150 max.

Brill support and chatting to a few runners on course I enjoyed it.

24:20 ish av hr 142 Brings home the standard on this site when the general population thought it was a “ fantastic debut “

Going sub 24 next time lol.

My piece of paper was like mush in that cheap crappy jacket at the end

They tried to take a pic but it was wrecked so no result … I got token 32 though so top 10% ish out of 300 ish runners, going to do a few of these now, see if I can get some speed back in the old kegs for next year.

Very friendly non elitist vibe for the whole thing !
Free too!!

You should be able to have the bar code scanned from your phone. We have the the plastic tags, for about £7 you get 3 and it helps the Parkrun coffers.

We’re do you get the tags from ?
The site?

I have two so I can use this one … I think
The other one was destroyed …!

Can you run with your phone and show a pic at the end ?

yeah ordered from the Parkrun site. We ordered 3 each (so 9 in total) and keep each set or three for us all together. We have 2 x sets at home and 1 x set at Mum’s.

Only one person needs to have the tags because it makes no difference when you actually scan, as long as to have your finish tag.
