Parkrun

Phew, thought he’d thrown you to the sea life :shark:

Marshalling for me today, chilly as well.

Disappointed you’d not both made the trek to Seaton Carew to meet @JeffB there :joy::joy::joy:

Haha. I think the desert man is being a tad modest there. Much less than a min. Weather was pretty grim.

Very cheeky parkrun with a few sections on the shingle, which really saps the strength out of your legs if you’re already struggling! Lots of narrow pinch points as well.

My 3rd different parkrun though. Not quite catching up with @jeffb yet! :joy:

Still. It’s a one more tiny run for 2023.

Matt Willis took about 20secs off the old record at Wepre, my local Parkrun.

Quite some achievement as the course is about 100m longer & conditions today were chilly & drizzly. Nice local lad - although studying in USA atm - classy triathlete & not a bad runner…annoyed with myself now for sleeping in & missing it :bell::end:.

Haha, think I’ve done about 47 different events now, unlike a bloke I know with over 200 different locations and getting on for 700 parkrun’s :flushed:

The winner where I was today was pushing a buggy! The kid was crying its eyes out for outbound section but seemed to have calmed down on the way back. Hardly surprising as I suspect they were doing a short 19 on a dirt track :flushed:

Edit: 18:00 :flushed: can’t be far off the course record, no wonder the kid was upset!

22.58 for LO, that’s a 18sec PB from 4wks ago at the same course. She came 46/276 and 3rd female overall! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Dad chugged along and brought up the rear for a 23.13 which hurt a lot after Thursday’s efforts!

You’ve won on AG Fruity  :trophy:

Think I was 70% and you were 72%.

It’s definitely happening. I think I could outsprint her still but I’d have to be focussing on short stuff. I’m so used to going long and slow that any genuine speed work has me paranoid about pinging calves these days. (which is a convenient excuse. )

Well done to both of you

Heslington Parkrun for me, my first since the accident.

I clocked it long at 5.18k, Parkrun time was 26.01 and pace was 5:01/km on my Garmin.

I seeded myself a little ways back which cost me some time at the start as it was busy & needed a bit of space to swing the blade about, there’s also a little climb on the lap which saps some tokens but the surface is great being a bike track.

I hoped for quicker as I’ve run a 24:34 on the track a few weeks back but it’s a line in the sand to compare against.

Great to hear @Doka. Well done.

I did my first of the year this morning at Tooting. First and only running “race” of the year. Was thinking I’d take it steady, but as ever just got carried away in the opening km. First 500m was only just under 5:00/km as I seeded myself so far back, but then the carrot of overtaking people was too hard to resist. Massively overcooked the next 500m for a 4:10 opening km. Progressively died, but came 21st, in about 21:30.

No achilles pain which was good. Might start trying to do more of these and work on getting some short distance fitness back up as a way of minimising the stress on the achilles.

I think we need a rematch after a bit more training and better sandbagging

Although clearly M50 is where it’s at :muscle::joy:

Was going to do Pennington Flash Parkrun this morning but it was tipping it down so stayed under the covers instead.

We had a nice gap in the weather at Phoenix park in Runcorn. Pennington flash would’ve been so slippery and muddy :scream:

Not done Pennington before - trail shoes by the sound of it?
