Parkrun

We’re all doomed !

Peds?

Lol

I know, I saw that. He looked young, but I’d have had him at at 16 youngest. He was twice the height of me! :joy:

I’d have put the lad who won at a simialr age as well, but he was in 20-24. So I’m guessing he still carries his ID in the pubs! :joy: (just like me at that age!).

I’m thinking I was a bit soft today. I’ve not done the hard yards to expect much more from the legs. But I think I’ve lost that extra percent or 2 that comes from just being tough and pushing through.

Right going to set myself a sub 18 target to give me a bit of direction for the end of the year.

Any advice apart from run more?

Easy run, long run, some speed work and in what form? 400s, 800s? Km intervals?

Good man.

I don’t think you’ll need a long run, your cycle commute has given you a decent base.

Play about with 200s, 400s, 800s, ks & 1200s with close to 5000mtrs effort in each session. A young man like you should be able to absorb a couple of sessions a week if you can find the time.

Km repeats at target pace is how I did it, a long time ago!

400”s
800”s

Even better, if you don’t get injured like everyone else !

Good luck

Cheers fellas.

Looking at the calendar Christmas Eve and New Years Eve fall on Saturdays so 4-5 weeks to have a pop at it.

Got a small park near me that I’ll use as a makeshift running track, fortunately it’s about 400 metres!

19:13 for me yesterday. 30 secs or so quicker, and I’d almost be worthy of running with the Bushey Park big dogs!

Staying away with the Mrs Friday night for the work xmas party. It’s 2.5miles to the start line of Cassionbury parkrun. Tempted but then I will have to be sensible Friday night and actually get up early. I could just take the lie in, decisions decisions.

edit: Mrs has just replied to me with a firm no to doing this. That means I’m not likely either

I managed to roll out of bed and do Minehead parkrun after a day watching darts at Butlins, I’m sure you wouldn’t plan to get to quite the same level of inebriation at a work do!

Our work events can be pretty spectacular. Last winter one, people were still drinking when the hotel started setting up for breakfast. The director I used to work for, ended up pretending to be a starfish by lying down on the dancefloor and waving his arms and legs around.

That’s what I was going to say - power on through

Came 5th at Weymouth Parkrun last Saturday - best ever ParkRun result. JM11-14 came second, clearly these coastal lads start young

Was it the winter course out and back on the Esplanade? Or the summer one that goes inland into Lodmoor Park?

I have had my eyes on that Winter course for a while. Pancake flat, nice surface, just need to catch it on a day with no wind.

I still have my claim to fame as the slowest “winning” time at my local. Never to be beaten as generally it’s at least 3 minutes off the pace these days (4+ on a fast day).

Only my 3rd parkrun of the year. First time in the vapors.
Ooh nice.
Not my best pacing, but tried to find feet to follow. Swapped my pacer at halfway as he was going to slow.
Pleased with that. Slow frustrating year finally getting back towards where I was years ago.

Easy one today. Two pints last night has given me an awful hangover! Soft I know
